Got lucky with a free round for 4 through work at the PGA and played last week. what a beautiful course. lush fairways, fast greens, bunkers with proper sand and the right amount. all the staff we met were friendly and helpful.
Played as a doubles matchplay and lost 2 and 1 but was irrelevant due to the great course, good company and great weather.
would happily pay to play again and highly recommend:D

i maybe on my own here, but i think the PGA National is a greater test of your skills than the Brabazon. The only holes on the Brab that stood out for me are the ones we all know, 9th-10th,17th & 18th. the rest , well, just seem like any new parkland course.

I think the PGA has a much more varied test thought its raised greens and variation of holes. The 1st is a cracking little par 4, unless they bang the flag far right!

3rd is a nice par 3, 4th is a beauty of a par 4, double dog leg with carries over lakes with both shots. 12th,14th & most noticeably the double fairway 16th are the clear winners on the back nine.

Its been good enough to hold the Seniors PGA Championships over the years and it is the best on site

Got to agree with you apart from those 4 holes the Brabazon is nowhere near as good as the PGA. It's a cracking deal in the winter when it is still in good nick. The 4th killed my score early on 1st time I played it with the machismo kicking in and me finding water with my drive - tried the miraculous 3rd having dropped and consequently found the other water.

Learnt my lesson from that - it has to be treated with respect.

Got to agree Richuk123, the 3rd was a beauty of a hole, we saw our 2 opponents tee shots roll back into the water (cue us 2 clubbing down) 4th hole was fantastic and got a par, 8th hole was longer than we all thought, the 14th I managed to carry the gorse and cut the corner (best shot of the day for me) 16th a tricky hole with that green perched up high. Got another free round due in the summer so we are back out for revenge

I'm playing the PGA and Derby this weekend on a stag do :-) I remember the PGA as having huge bunkers plus my mate taking a 6 iron onto the 18th instead of a 9 iron and hitting the roof of the clubhouse :-) Big Ron Atkinson was there and stood taking the piss.
