I moved to my new house a few months ago, which is 120 miles away from old address. The guys I played with before all loaded up with a 4 pack, and possibly a hip flask for the first few holes. During the summer this course even had a buggy travel around selling beer. My new course has nothing of the sort, and even on the 19th the guys drink tea. What's the culture where you play ?

Personally I wouldn't drink while I played. That said, the 19th can get a bit lively. Glad I can get a taxi or a lift

Hardly ever drink beer at my club, far too stuffy an atmosphere. Rather finish my round and head to the pub

Good mix where I play, plenty of tea drinkers but plenty of beer drinkers aswell. Especially friday late afternoon and Saturday anywhere from about 1pm. Wouldn't drink whilst I play, even playing after a heavy night out with a few hours sleep it's bad enough!

Nothing against a nice cold beer on the clubhouse terrace after the round. It's Germany ... we are a beer drinking nation ;) I would not want to drink while playing, though. I know the ladies sometimes like to start their round with a prosecco, especially when they are going on one of their field trips. I doubt the guys are any different. But for me, I am happy enough to be able to hit the ball when I am sober ... I am sure drinking would not help with that.

A beer or two before the round and then between us we carry a few beers or a hip flask.
On things like Captains Day or the Turkey Trot we turn up and have a few beers, play the round while having a few beers then come back to the club and have a few beers. Then maybe to the pub afterwards for a few beers
Mind you, I can't say we're typical, more atypical.

Same at my club. I don't drink whilst playing but will stay for a couple on a Friday night or Saturday. I'm only a 2 minute walk from my club, although it has taken me longer on the way home sometimes, so don't need to worry about having to drive.

I could count on one hand the amount of rounds in the last couple of years that have had no alcohol while playing or after (I've not taken any on last two rounds but that's a temp calorie counting thing)

Golf is a pretty social occasion here and much less functional than I imagine some have

Definitely have a beer post round it's only manners, not much of a drinker pre round or during though. Having said that I was in South Africa in November and it was compulsory too stop after nine and have some refreshment which usually was a beer. Not many people at our place drink during a round not that I have noticed except one person who is notorious for it.

Other than a quick bottle of beer provided on a service buggy on the Centurion and the Belfry (PGA) both whilst playing with Rickg, I don't think I've ever drank on the course, I like a few afterwards but there's a time and a place for drinking alcohol and I don't think on the golf course whilst playing is one of them.

Only drink on golfing holidays as they have the beer cart come round.

Wouldn't drink at the course as I normally have my kids after a round of golf.

First time I played abroad was in Mexico, drinks were in with the price. Think I had three or fours cans then realised there was not enough trees on the course.

Dont mind the occasional drink on the course but seeing as I have the weakest bladder on the forum. It's not a habit I would want to get into. Have a 20-25 min drive to get home. So a pint at the most when done but last couple of months it's been a cup of Rosie Lee and a bag of cheese an onion.

No drinks during a round and I have not seen people drinking other than on society days when playing. Occasionally afterwards but as I am usually driving I am in the soft drink / coffee group.

Very varied responses here. I am part of what we call the 9 o clock club. Anyone who wants a game just turns up at 9am every day. The problem is that 9 am is a little to early for a beer (even for me).

Cold day - not the designated driver - a little hip flask of port.
A beer afterwards is a must.

Wouldn't go on the smash whilst playing. With how annoying most golfers (weary seniors) in my club are i'd end up whacking one whilst on the sauce.

When playing after work in the summer we occasionally take a couple of bottles of beer each on the course.
We always have a beer after whilst we sort out who owes what for the par 3s & overall score.

God, that sound boring !!

Or he might have to drive afterwards

It's the same with our swindle

Coffee to start - coffee at the halfway hut then sausage and chips when we finish plus a soft drink or a beer if not driving

Certainly don't see many drinking on the way round as most I know can survive 4/5 hours without needing a drink. Seen the odd take a beer at the halfway hut at Woburn as beer is on tap
