I couldn't find the new courses thread so I have started a new one (sorry about that)

I have fancied playing BD for quite a while and will be there tomorrow for a ladies open, so any tips.

Also is it pronounced Desert (English) dessert or the French way desair

Can't help with any tips about the course but I believe it is pronounced the same as the Sahara.

Spend plenty of time beforehand on the practice Green Louise.
They're usually like lightening.
Don't worry about the pronunciation, just say it Lancashire style.

Make sure your below the pins, down hill putts will cost you, hit the greens at the front or even on the aprons if good weather or you'll run through, best to be short of the greens I found and chip on rather than land down the sides of some of the run-offs as they leave a delicate chip (flop) up back on, we all found that the par 3's were a club longer than you think, you'll understand that pretty quickly on the 3rd and that green is very fast! Allow for a good ball run on the doglegs off your drives or you can run out of fairway after thinking you've hit a perfect drive!

You'll enjoy it 👍🏌

I play beau desert all the time. My advice would be to get as close to the green as you can with your tee shot. You'll see people taking clubs "for safety" but if you leave yourself with long shots into the green your going to struggle because the greens are difficult to hold and anything outside 20 ft is 3 putt territory.

There's lots of hidden sneaky breaks in the greens so i break my putts into two halfs and read the lines separately if that makes sense

I would advise against this. This practice green is always much slower than the course

And beau desert is translated
"beautiful wilderness "

Well I really enjoyed it, its a great course and the greens are very tricky. and it is pronounced "desair"

I took advice and took a club more on the first par 3 ..... and went off the back, not a good place to be! I stuck to my own choice after that and hit all the greens, shame on the 7th where I was also pin high until the ball started rolling backwards...
One thing I found strange was despite there being quite a few long( for me) par 4s the course was longer than ours although the par 3s are all pretty short.
I thought the 13th in particular was a very tough hole, 377 yard par 4 with the green tucked up behind trees.
Despite not starting great especially on the 2nd where I made a complete mess. I played ok from tee to green, rather too many 3 putts on the greens sadly. I was please however to finish with 2 pars
It is definitely a course you need to play a few times before you get used to the greens.
There is another ladies open in September, I can see me being back for that one.

I think you could be referring to the 12th. When i visited, with GM, the club captain was on the 12th tee welcoming us, he explained the trees were only saplings when the hole was designed
