Beau Desert Stag

It's a course and comp I've always wanted to play in as well.
Why not ring the club secretary and ask?

You better be a good golfer. They set the course up silly long and stupid pin positions. Its a scratch comp and current or past members always win it due to course knowledge

It's not quite 6500 on the card, where does the extra length for "silly long" come from?
Greens were very quick and slopey from memory of only time I've played it

when i played there last year new tee boxes where being prepared/ready. I believe BDGC are looking to get back on the Open qualifying rota, so are adding yardage where possible

They have special tee's for the stag that make it like threading a needle. With rock hard fairways it makes interesting golf. And yes the green can be though. The only thing they're missing is a windmill and clowns face

One of my favourite courses also. Great setting, loads of variety and some of the trickiest greens I've putted on.

I think I'm right in saying on the last forum meet there (TimGolfy Debut)some time ago now.
20ish Golfers, 36 holes each,Good conditions and not one round played to handicap.

Its certainly a tough test.

Haha, they'll do well to get rock hard fairways in May this year.....might even have stopped raining by then!! :)

I remember there being a couple of holes where the tee shot was like hitting down a hallway but nothing ridiculous.

I played a society event there in May a few years ago and the course was so dry it was stupid.

I see Rob rock alot and he won't play the course between june and September. He said the course is simply unplayable and you have no control over your golf ball its just silly.

I remember last july i hit a 5 wood into the green and it bounced so high when it hit the green it almost made it onto the terrace

I've been playing links and heathland courses for as long as I can remember and never come across one that is unplayable.

Fast and running yes.......but unplayable, no.

I remember the 3rd hole (iirc) is a very short par 3. You had to pitch it short of the green to get it to stop.
