Beau Desert 23 Sept 2010

Full Throttle,

I agree completely. It was an excellent day.

Not only were we given Powakaddies to try, but GM managed to sort out the weather too. Mike only had to bring out his waterproofs (including hat) and away went the clouds.

Many thanks to my partners - Simon, Graham and our winner Gary. He played superbly, including an eagle on the par 4 ninth. (The tee shot lipped out)

Thanks again Mike,Jez and Paul and all at GM, Powakaddy and Beau Desert for a great day out.

I look forward to the next one.

Fantastic Day and some really good golf. Thanks to Mike and the Golf Monthly team, powerkaddy guys for supplying the trolleys...thanks also to my playing partners, Mike,Alan and Colin.....thanks guys for an excellent day..

Well played Rick (awesome 2, must have been an inch away), Tony & Darren, some very tidy golf got you guy's some well deserved prizes!!

Thanks GM for a top day.

Here here ! what a great day - great weather - great crowd. Many thanks to Mike Jezz and Paul etc - and to powakaddy - Great trolleys. Will have to persuade my missus to let me get one of those next year.
It was great to meet some of you guys especially Graham and Mark

Would love to go to the next one if its not to far away and I can get the time of work.

PS - Beau Desert - What a fantastic track - the best I have ever played in the midlands

Well just arrived home after my 296 mile round trip and i can honestly say it was well worth it,it was a fantastic day. Thanks to Mike, paul and jezz, the power caddy boys, steve the organizer, beau desert golf club,my superb playing partners,Andy, darren, and rick three fantastic lads a pleasure to be in your company.Well done darren on your 2nd place, well done me on my 2nd place, well done all of us on our team 2nd place. What a gem of a course the scenery and views were lovely, the greens were slicker than an american oil spill, more contours than Jackie stallone face, and harder to read than the Shakespear. For those unfortunate to miss out if in the area try out the course it is a hidden gem.Look forward to the pictures.Just one worrying moment when rickg got his 2 his words were take me from behind, worrying to say the least, thank god he only meant a photo.

Thanks Mark :) I forgot to ask for you forum name. Any time you want a game at Oxley just drop me a line

Gary

Another great GM day, thanks Mike and the rest of the team. Really great course, what about those greens . Thanks to the rest of my fourball (Steve, Steve & Matt) it's fair to say I think we'll all have better days.

I'd just like my thanks to all involved in organising and hosting the day, I really enjoyed it.

Special thanks to Chris, Aaron & Jan for their company and good humour in the face of a 'challenging' round.

The greens!!
I loved them so much I decided to hit 42 shots on them. Clueless doesn't even begin to describe it

And yes, the course is superb.

Looking on the website they do winter deals of 18 holes plus food at very reasonable prices.
We should go back as a forum meet, it really is that good (plus I want revenge!).

Did anyone ask what the lime green painted dustbin lid nailed to a tree on the left of the first fairway was :D

Played once before and it was even better this time. (Smiffy where were you) :(
Thank you GM and Beau Desert, organisation was spot on, you even arranged the captain to drive round and say hello to us all :D
Lovely to play with you Gary, Aaron and Chris, the apparel clashed beautifully, we looked a bit conservative Gary !!, (the pics will reveal all.)
LD awsome tho' :D

Lovely to meet some new forumers and can't wait until the next event.

Brilliant, brilliant day.

Mike, Jezz and Paul, thanks for a really great day. Everyone at Beau was really welcoming, nice to have their captain come out to greet us on the back nine, even though PokerJoke called him a Course Marshall!! Even the barmaid was very welcoming, eh RickG?! ;)
Powakaddy guys were cool, the new prototype is a real good un, and a step up from the Freeway II, can see a purchase coming when they are released.

RickG, Andy (Junior) & Tony (Pokerjoke), superb company. Real good fun, plenty of banter and some bloody good golf sprinkled in by everyone, thank you.

Finally a course that goes straight into the top few courses I've been lucky enough to play. I'd put it on a par with somewhere like Hankley Common, in fact, because of the elevation changes @ Beau, I'd say it had better holes than Hankley.

Definitely a really nice course, played in good company (thanks Jan, Gary and Aaron). A really nice day, and well worth the drive. Only really got wet on the first two holes, then any excuses for the way I was playing evaporated.

Dress like a clown, play like a clown, that's my motto.

Yes i did ask and your right it was a lime green painted dustbin lid :)

I'd like to echo the thanks to all those involved in making yesterday a great success. :)
I had my doubts as to how the day was going to go as on the first fairway the rain clouds loomed and my ball vanished from the middle of the fairway. :(
All turned out ok as we found it in Jason's pocket (thanks Jason, trying to keep it out of the rain no doubt :D) and after about 5 mins of heavy rain, the clouds parted, the wind dropped and it couldn't be better weather.
Thanks must go to Rod who stepped in at the last minute to make up our 4 ball and after a wee putting tip, watching Rob's smile as he single putted time and time again was a joy.
All in all a great day and well done to the team who beat us for 3rd on countback. :(

For those of you who couldn't make it, some lucky person won a draw for a brand new PK trolley AND bag (about £500 worth.) Well done PK for bringing 36 trolleys for us to try :)
Pictures will follow when I can get photobucket to work :(

My thanks to the GM team for the event.
The lads at PK were very helpful before and during the event.
The gents that I played with were nonforumers and a bit wary at first, Dave, Matt (the winner of the prize draw and the PK trolly and bag) and mark from Pk. a realy good day was had by all and the course what more can be said, greens like icerinks and fairways lush and the rough punnishing.
As we were told No water and No OOB. What more could you ask for.
Very fine end to the day as we played up the 18th with the lightning flashing and the thunder rumbling, the lads at Gm must have some pull upstairs.
Heres to the next one.

Can only echo the thanks to the GM team. Got off to a false start after meeting my team beside the first tee, only to get bumped up a group 20 seconds later due to a no show.

Great game with Paul, Robert and Pete, just that we all played mediocre, but that seemed to be the running theme for nearly everyone, on what turned out to be a pretty tough track, particularly due to the pin placements.

Great course and most enjoyable day. Also thanks to Powakaddy for the use of trolleys and the prizes donated (even if Pete didn't want to win any :p)
