Played here on Wednesday and thought it was fantastic, greens were exceptional too. Dont remember many holes as they are all so good. the weakest is probably the 13th though IMO.

Can see why its up there in the English rankings, but would put it slightly below the 'top' category of courses i've played - Saunton, RSG, St Georges Hill, Ganton, Alwoodley, Notts and Woodhall Spa

Yep lovely course but surprised you consider the 13th a weak hole. The short par 4 with a ditch across and water to the right? The best holes at Bearwood are in the middle 3rd of the course.

I mean weak in comparison to the rest of the course. The tees were miles forward (which continues to pee me off about golf courses) so it was literally 7iron (to stay short of the hazard) and then SW.

Saw drawing of the changes they've made to 8&9, they are both great holes now and didnt look as good previously (only going on the drawings i found)

Really enjoy the course - one of my favs , prob the best Parkland course I have played , don't think there is a poor hole on the course.

You should have gone for the green then which is how real men play that hole ;)

you are correct. the sun was setting and it was hard to even hit the ball as it was so strong. I did actually get the driver out!

I also say it was 7iron SW, i tried to hit 2iron over the ditch, hit it awful and ended in it :D

I've never been quite convinced. I guess it's because it's a commercial rather than a members club. Yep, it's nice, but it lacks something, I'm just not sure what.

I really like the course - a decent test.

Whenever I have played there it has always been in great condition. Get the impression it can get a bit soggy when it rains.

Surprises me as well Mendie. This is a great hole. 170+ carry across water, 240-265 to ditch from the whites where everyone plays from - maybe 20 odd less from yellows but 30+ more from the backs. Makes the big hitters think if they want to take on the ditch. Most people can take a driver off the whites, especially into wind. There may be more changes near the green coming soon with the water coming in front of the green as the lake is extended in front of at least half the putting surface

Played there with Ethan a few months ago, it's a great course.

I think we both birdied that hole but if I recall correctly you do still need to be in a good position off the tee. Up to the ditch and left is better than short and right where you might not have a shot?

Just to clarify, i didnt say it was a bad hole, just IMO not as good as the others. :D
