Calzaghe wins it, justice.

Hamilton second then Hatton.

A fair result.

Harrington should have won the overseas award though!

Arsenal ladies should have won the team, but you get what you get I suppose. No way the rugby boys should have won when they lost.

Absolutely. Congratulations for being a bunch of losers

Well said lads but isn't it always the case. Look at the conterders. Jonny Wilkinson ?????? He only came back for the world cup and even then his conversion rate was mince. He even claimed the balls were over inflated.

Well done Joe :D

So glad the boxers did so well this year. Isn't EVERY sport just a more civilised version of theirs? They deserve their plaudits. Glad I was wrong about Hamilton.

Couldn't watch this 'aren't we all brilliant...NOT rubbish.
Joe Calzaghe, best of a poor bunch really. UK sports scraping the barrel again.
Calzaghe has no appeal to the public, 10 years undefeated and no-one gives an ar$e cos he's dull.
Bring back the good old days of Benn, Eubank, Collins, Tyson when fighters knocked eachother out rather than nowadays - the way they pussy foot away from eachother for 12 rounds and try to win on points like a pair of fairies is dull as.

Bet you wouldn’t say that to their faces Birdieman!

Im happy with the result, but would prefer it if they had a wider spectrum of people nominated, not just people who have been in the limelight over the year.

Does sports personality of the year have to have a personality? I don’t think so look at the previous winners most of them are as boring as xmas shopping with the Mrs.

Saying that Calzaghe is the best of a bad bunch is so, so harsh.

Joe Calzaghe's piece by piece dismantling of Jeff Lacy is arguably one of the finest performances ever seen in a boxing ring. Time after time he has showed sublime skill with good punch power, exceptional hand speed and a clinical approach to his attack strategy. A mark of his ability is how damned handsome he remains after a decade at the top.

As for Crith Eubank he is nowhere near Calzaghes league as Joe prooved.

To say that he does not appeal to the public is absurd, the man sells out cardiff arms park and the millenium stadium with ease and if you showed his photo to many non-boxing people they would immediately recognise him.

Nigel Benn and Steve Collins were great fighters.

I just can't agree with the "good old days" sentiment. Look at fighters we have today such as Joe, Enzo Macarinelli, David Haye, Young Muttley, Alex Arthur, Junior Witter, Ricky Hatton, & Amir Khan just to name a few. These guys are all class operators, sell tickets and all of them have or will achieve great success.

Boxing isn't all about 2 people throwing haymakers trying to deck the other and to call them faries is terrible. I had 3 paid bouts at Caesars in Streatham and every jab was incredibly painful let alone the time I got KO'd. These were 4 round contests so anybody who can go 12 rounds deserves the upmost respect. Former WBU world champion Johnny Armour lives around the corner from me and he bears the scars of a long career. These are hard men, that should not be forgotten.

Too many people who know nothing about boxing have an uneducated oppinion because they think they know something about it because they watch from their armchair.

Thats just my oppinion birdieman, Its something I feel strongly about but at the end of the day there is no right or wrong here, just differing oppinions. No hard feelings!

Where do you play medwayjon? It's not West Malling is it, 'cos I know a tough ex SAS man who plays there. That would make two of you.

Its amazing that golfers find it difficult to win these awards?

Scotland Golf World Cup winners did not get a mention in the team award-Those nominated England Rugby team beaten finalist, Scotland Soccer team non qualifiers and a cycling team competing in individual and team events-accepting they actually won some medals.
I suppose Fededer winning the overseas award was a reasonable decision but i still think Harrington should have won-the first european major winner in 8 yrs.
