battery life

How long should a 12v-26ah sealed lead acid battery last. I bought mine Sept 2012, and its now starting going flat near the end of a round. Now considering the wet weather and lack of golf over the winter, I reckon about 40/50 full rounds and a few half rounds is all its done .
I have tried my mates charger just in case mines was faulty , but its still going flat . Should I try to return it or is that the normal life span for this type of battery. sad.

Too many variables to say, but 12 months seems a bit short on the face of it.

Way too short a life span. I would try to take it back. I am sure they will ask if you have used it correctly, did you leave it on charge when not using it for a period of time? Weight of bag etc but if they are being fair and you have used it according to the instructions they should change it.
I have to say that the lite power lithium, usable on any electric trolley is absolutely brilliant. I nearly choked at the price, but for a regular golfer it will pay for itself. It weighs next to nothing, it's tiny, it charges in less than 3 hours and is guaranteed for 5 years.

I was thinking much the same , the weight must make a difference.
I paid about £65 for the lead acid battery which only lasted 10 months before faltering, so price wise 5 years looks good on paper.
Is a special charger really needed .

Any lead acid/GEL golf trolley battery purchased from a reputable supplier should come with a minimum 12 month warranty.

Provided it has been used and recharged correctly it should be replaced under that warranty as it is almost certainly defective. Get your claim in ASAP.

Re lithium battery 5 year warranties, read the small print carefully. I haven't looked recently, but last time I checked some (?all) suppliers provided a limited guarantee where if the battery failed within the period you had to make an escalating contribution towards the cost of a replacement. To me, this indicated that a fault free 5 years was unlikely. As I said though, I haven't read the recent small print but - be aware.

Take it back and they will charge it and test it for you. Minimum 12 months warranty with most modern batteries having 2 or 3 years on them. If it had been 10 months old in the middle of winter being put through daily extreme heat cycles it could be a issue but in the middle of summer that's not going to affect it at all.

So they say. I got mine charger included and you don't see them for sale without so I am not sure what will happen when I need a new battery in 4 years or so...
