Anyone been there who can recommend places to stay,go and see. Things to do etc.and What not to do.?

Looking at taking HID there for a weekend.( no golf). Looking at going toThermae Spa and maybe watch some rugby amongst other things, Visit Bath website seems to be good.

cheers

Alright for a short visit but wouldn’t stay too long, avoid the tap end!

;) I’m sure someone will come along with a sensible answer for you

Visited regularly for a few years whilst #2 daughter was at university there. We always enjoyed the visits. We’re coffee shop, restaurant, pub, theatre, art gallery sort of people. Managed to get tickets for the rugby, and thoroughly enjoyed it -typical friendly rugby crowd, lots of banter.

In a list of favourites I’d put it third behind York and Edinburgh, and above Lincoln and Chester.

One of mine is there ATM. It's good for a weekend, but you'd need to travel about after that, I would say.

The centre of town is super sanitised and full of chains, but it gets more interesting on the outskirts.

There's a passable Xmas market if you're planning a trip in the next few weeks. Check the dates.

And defo try and do the rugby. It's a grand occasion.

A good place to go without clubs, as I'm not sure there's a lot of golf about (it's surrounded by steep hills)

Really enjoy visiting Bath. We stayed here http://www.kennard.co.uk/about-us.html - a lovely place within an easy stroll of all the tourist places. Abbey, Roman Baths, Thermae Spa and the rugby are all good. We also did a walking tour which was pretty interesting.

A bit further afield you have Wooky Hole caves and Glastonbury Tor. On our way home from Bath we had a trip to Castle Combe which was lovely.

You would be better off staying in Bristol and then getting the train across or maybe drive. Bristol will have a lot more to do as Bath is relatively quiet

Beautiful city. The open top tour bus is a good start, the roman baths and museum are very good. Others: pump room, pultney weir, cathedral, thermaie spa. Royal crescent, American museum, rugby, nice little side streets with old pubs cafes and restaurants. If you have time take a day trip to Bristol on the train and see the ss great Britain. The architecture is amazing, you should love it.

We had a weekend away there 20 years ago and it was a great place. we stayed in a nice hotel, which i think was on Royal Crescent, had a great meal out and went to the Rugby. But that was when Bath played in the local park, its that long ago.

cheers guys-food for thought.Always wanted to go there, may well take the train rather than drive. Will probably go in January time,do the touristy stuff, catch the rugby. Not sure we will fit it all in a weekend.

The train station is in the town centre and Bath is small enough to get around on foot.
