Would you buy a Driver from the US of A?
Browsing e-bay, (as you do), and came across these Cobra Bio-Cell drivers.
Price over here is around the £200.00 mark, but these come in at just over half the price brand new, even taking the shipping into account.........

Any "downsides" to buying from the States, anything to watch out for???
:confused::confused::confused:

Usually there's a function on ebay to calculate it, or I think you can calculate the import duties and pre pay so there's no surprises

I have purchased stuff from the US before and not been collared for import duty. Not golfing stuff I might add, but stuff for my motorbike that I couldn't get over here.
Do they collar you every time???

If they can, they will, as I said above, you can be charged, fined and have the goods confiscated, its a risk if you don't declare and pay the circa 20% (equivalent to our current VAT)

Not sure how much extra but I paid extra for a driver shaft.

Why bother....??
I'd say you will have an extra £30 to add on, ( maybe 35 ) from my past experiences

There's plenty on ebay uk for around £150 mark brand new, and they will arrive much sooner too

I used to import lots from the states many years ago, when the exchange rate was better, now it's just not worth it, it's no cheaper than buying from UK after you have paid the add ons

Only time I have recently has been for brands not readily available over here

I've done it a few times, you will get charged but still usually works out cheaper.if you want to make sure it's 100% try globalgolf.com or rockbottomgolf.com or 3balls.com on ebay.

Agree with this. I imported when the rate was around $2/£1. Hardly worth it now unless you are buying stuff that isb't on sale in the UK.

I bought a bombtech grenade driver from the states and had to pay £33 for import duty and driver was $250. Refused to pay import duty when buying club. Royal Mail sent a letter saying to pay import duty before delivery to home address which was no hassle and got it 2 days later

I like that driver, was it any good?

It's very forgiving and produced good distance and results but the matrix shaft/green shaft makes the ball go to high for my liking.still have it but the g25 is working for me at the moment.

It's not 'Import Duty' that's the problem - as that's about 2.25%

The problem is VAT - at 20%

And Duty-able/Vat liable amount includes Shipping Cost!

Oh and Parcelforce's £13.00 'Handling Charge' if through them.

So it needs to be pretty cheap/special/unavailable to warrant it imo.

That said, I have imported several items. Been stung once!

I've got a nearly new biocell black fitted with px 7c3 stiff shaft and new (used once) golf pride tour velvet grip I could be interested in shifting. If your interested drop me a pm smiffers

And you also have to pay duty on the whole transaction (including p&p) they used to be quite slapdash with it but around 18minths ago they started clamping down and expect to pay now.
Some US sellers will pay duty at source which is a little cheaper.
