We have just had a hike of around 25 per cent approx which means the members are not too pleased!

A pint of Warsteiner is now £4.15.

How are the prices at your Club compared with local pubs?

Do members have to pay a levy and if so what amount and how successful is the levy?

think ours are more or less equivalent for non members, but with the bar card i'd say about 15% cheaper.

used to have a levy of £50 which was successful for everyone under 60, but was done away with after complaints from the old codgers who only drink tea after a round

The bar prices at Belton Park are probably a bit cheaper than most of the pubs I drink in. Food is pretty reasonable as well. In fact, if the clubhouse had a more relaxed atmosphere and dress code I would go there for a drink in the evenings rather than to the pub. Even my wife was impressed with the food etc up there. Her comment was that she would happily meet me for a drink and a sandwich after a game if it did not take her so long to try and work out what she was actually allowed to wear in the clubhouse.

We have a card so get a discount. The wife likes popping up for a drink and to meet me and is always made welcomed. They let her run a tab for any food and drinks now they know her which I pay off when I get in. Like GB72 it didn't take long to work out what she could wear (although she worked at a golf club previously so had a fair idea). We don't eat there that often mainly as the kitchen tends to be closed time I get in after an evening round.

Totally the opposite, my wife took ages to find something that fitted the rules as she is not a golfer, does not wear trousers, did not want to wear her work suits and lives in smart jeans. Eventually she found a semi casual dress that she could wear but that was it and she said she would not be coming up that often simply due to the hassle of finding appropriate clothing and she had no intention of stocking the wardrobe with clothes that she would only wear for a quick drink at the golf club.

Apologies, appear to have taken this off topic a bit but I suppose that the purpose of the increase in prices is to increase bar takings and it may be a less alienating approach for a club to look at ways of getting more people in spending more money over the bar rather than hiking the prices for the ones who already keep it afloat with their bar spend.

I agree. My wife doesn't drink but actually enjoys using the club now and the members make her feel welcome. She usually parks herself out on the patio watching everyone come down 18 with a drink and sometimes a bit of food. She's comfy and happy to go in alone and although not mega bucks is still putting cash over the bar. Bit by bit we seem to be getting one or two others doing the same. Every little helps

Prices are ridiculous but I guess they're mainly set for the tourists etc so not really surprising. Sometimes get special deals on beers etc but generally its not a place to hang around for too long

Guiness £3
Carling £2.70
Coors £2.50
Guest Beer £2.70

£30 per year membership, mandatory to all uses of the clubs facilities be it golf/cicket/football/netball/tennis/bowls etc etc etc

Where I am a Member?? I actually could not tell you the last time I had a pint there, could be as long ago as 5 year since!

Where I work it is £3.10 for lager/beer then 15% discount taking it to £2.63.............bloody cheap as chips.

Guinness is £3.30 less 15% = £2.80.

Most importantly Erdinger Weissbier is £3.50 less 15% = £2.97.

All very good value pricing.

I don't drink so don't know. A large diet coke is £2.50 which seems expensive. Bought my playing partner a large white wine on Sat and that was £4.85 - gulp!

£4.10 for Peroni, £360 for Becks Vier or London Pride, £530 for a large Rioja - good prices for here as a Peroni is 4.40 to 4.80 around town.
