Had a text from an unknown mobile phone this morning suggesting that banks are refunding the above fees.
An obvious scam we think.
Just a heads up .

That's been on the go for a while. I had an argument with a guy on the phone the other day who called me an idiot for agreeing to being charged for my bank. I said, mate you tell me where else I can get iPhone and holiday insurance for a flat rate of £17 a month? He was still trying to get me to claim it back. Consumer responsibility needs to kick in soon before it all folds in on itself.

How come there's no-one calling me up for all the tax I've paid for all the services I've never used?

Agreed. it's certainly an odd one. They are not charging for nothing as I get RAC cover, mobile phone insurance, holiday insurance, will writing service and a host of other benefits for the paltry sum of £180 a year for my entire family. Seems like a no brainer and hardly the banks mis-selling a product like PPI.

There are people that have been mis-sold it.

but these calls are from agencies trying to get a claim and then take 40%+. I have told them i am perfectly happy with my phone insurance for 2 x iPhone 6, iPad, Worldwide travel insurance, Green flag motor for both cars, Airline business lounge access and preferential international money exchanges and a personal bank manager for my 24 quid a month. Like the OP, if they can find all that cheaper, then happy days!

I'm in banking, well building society actually, but know this is the latest compensation claim bandwagon that such firms are trying to get on.
As said there are potential miss selling issues, around whether account holders need the packaged terms (especially insurance) but as most packaged accounts offer a number of services/benefits as pointed out above, I can't see this becoming the next PPI.
The regulator is looking at the whole packaged account market though for these reasons.
