Right, this will be interesting for a Friday afternoon.

My ball contract with Taylormade has expired (read that as i hit the last free one from the TM day OOB this week) so fancy trying something new. I loved the lethal ball, but in reality they are too expensive for me at my level (i lose them too often!)

I did manage to get 45 holes out of 1 ball and in all honesty it looked not far off new!!

Anyway, what should i try next? i did like the Burner TP which was their budget 3 piece ball, i want something in the mid price range that offers good control and distance so a proper middle ground ball.. I have a fast swing, on a pro V fitting that was free at AG, was very much in the Prov1X range. my thoughts so far are:

TM Rocketthingies
Titliest NXT tourS
Wilson DX3, FG tour?
Srixon AD333
Bridgestone (dont know which would suit me?!)

Anything else? Dont want to pay more than £30 for a dozen, and want to be able to walk into a shop to buy them, so normal price, no super online bargains also no "last years" ones, as i want a new "standard"

There you go guys, hit me with it!

For that price range (consistently) - Bridgestone e5?
The DX3 is a good ball as well. I have a sleeve of 3 sitting spare if you wanted them (just PM me your details) to try. But, alas, they are last years model :P

e6 is a straight distance ball but offers a bit of spin.
As Gareth says the B range is good BUT outside of last years "offers" you will find they break the £30 budget.

Personally, I reckon the NXT Tour S is a great ball if you can find them at a decent price.

Also like the Bridgestone B330's but have a feeling they might be nudging up towards the £30 mark?

Why?

almost all handicap golfers will tell virtually no diff between last yrs and this yrs version, why pay £30+ for this yrs when last yrs are available at £20?

Consistency. i dont want to try a new ball, love it (whether that's psychological or not) and then not be able to buy them again.

AG have the NXT tour S for £30 a dozen. more than happy to pay £20 for something that's decent!

Each to their own, but if i gave you the last 3 reincarnations of the Pro V1 and let you have each for a while I bet you wouldnt know which is which.

If insistent on this years model then at £30 you should be able to get either the Bridgestone B330 or the Srixon XV, wouldnt pay as much for the NXT personally, otherwise would look at the Bridgestone E series for sub £20

The Nike One RZN isn't a bad ball.. I had a sleeve of 3 to try, but didn't invest in them further as I'm a tightwad and grudge paying > £20 a dozen, hence my preference for the DX3. ;)

Agree with Steve RE: the Pro V1.

Another vote for the Bridgestone e5. It is a good mix between distance and a bit of feel with a good quality cover and a well below £30 price tag.

I personally like the Srixon balls, I using last years Z-star offering, as AG were selling them off cheap, the AD333 is also a reliable consistent ball in my opinion, or more so, it suits the way I play.

Price wise the ad333 is cheap as chips and can be got for £15 at most stores. The bridgestone E5 is similar but with the same cover as the prov's which I'm tempted to try out and less than £20.

Was in the local shop the other day and see there are now TM Rocketballz balls with a urethane cover. Similar idea to the Bridgestone e5 perhaps?

They were pretty cheap IIRC, about £20 as I thought about buying some to give them a bash.

Anyone tried them?

Exactly,You can pick up the B330 for around 16 a doz if you shop around

I play the Titleist NXT tourS they have a great feel off the club and putter, not expensive either

Doesn't qualify as being this year's ball, but if you can find anywhere that still has Nike One Tour D they will be about £20/dozen. My favourite ball.

Messrs Woods and Schwartzel allegedly carried on using their incarnation of it when the resin ball superseded it a couple of years ago.

How come, little bit clickier than the Pro V and the like? Is that something you like?

Thanks for the input guys, will try and pick up a sleeve of the E5, NX and FG tour. am not good enough to know why one may perform better for me than another, simply down to feel, sound, spin etc. just want a consistency in my bag so there are less things to blame!
