Resolutely stuck as a 3 and 4 piece man unless it is absolutely saturated on the course when I switch to a 2 piece to try and eek as much distance as I can.
I got the same articule from the club pro. It's obviously a bit like ITV and it's regional variations.
I think the Pro V1x is for higher club head speeds than the Pro V1, and therefore will probably feel a bit harder on the short game due to a lack of compression. I may be wrong though.
I like 3 piece balls, despite being a 25 h'capper. Might try the Trispeeds as they're meant for quite slow swing speeds.
of course where this falls down is in the assumption that all 2-piece are the same, as all 3-piece are the same, which as we all know is patently untrue.
so for me, some 2-piece, some 3-piece. even tied a 4-piece once but I don't think I had it long!
Not trying to hijack the thread, but could some kindly soul let us all know which balls are which out of the popular makes?
ie Srixon AD333, Cally Warbird, Titleist PTS and even Topflites and Pinnacles etc
I go along with viscount when I am in a choosey mood but I am just as happy with 2 piece balls and the one area I dont have many problems these days is my short game and putting so Im happy. If I started having probs there I would certainly switch to better 3 or even 4 piece, but havent found the need yet.
Chubb, prov1x are for swing speeds above 110 iirc. I think they are harder for distance but can still be compressed and spun by the faster swing. I may be wrong but it's what I understand. Not worth using if you swing below them speeds.
The ProV1x is a 4 piece, but most golfers who play it won't hit it hard enough to access the inner core, and really make it work. On the other hand it does spin slightly less, so could be played for this reason, if the ProV1s are a bit spinny. A mate of mine puts so much munch on these they just fizz up in the air and go nowhere.
