Just got back from the hospital after being referred by my GP, I've had Trigger Finger just about all summer although it does seem to be getting slightly better with time.
Doc says I need an operation to correct it, he didn't want to do the injection thing due to a risk of tendon damage or summat.
So has anyone else had this done? He reckons I'll be out of action for a couple of weeks which is a pain in the old jacksie but I imagine to be able to hold and swing a club will take longer

cortisone, ultimately, can lead to further degeneration of the tendon. An op can lead to more scarring, which further reduces the room for the tendon. That's in extreme cases...

Physio and stretching exercises to 'pop' the tendon can put it right without any need for any invasive treatment. Failing that, bash the back of the offending digit with a hammer to straighten it...

I haven't had it but I think I may have it or something similar.

On the inside of my right pinkie finger knuckle where I interlock with my grip the joint has been swollen for most of they year and it's never bothered me that much unless I was playing a lot if golf but over the last few weeks it's becoming more painful and I'm finding it a bit harder to straighten it.

Think I may have to bite the bullet and book a trip to the docs and get it checked out.

sounds arthritic, especially as it feels worse in the colder damper weather

hi beeserk

i had the same problem about a year ago.
had the op took about 29 mins and was out of action for about 4 weeks (was for trigger finger) earlier this year i had two ops for carpal tunnel, again 4/5 weeks out of action but now all ok.

short off the tee

my dad (also a keen golfer) had that done, the physio over streched the fingers bending them backwards until it popped the tendon. Agony at the time but good as new now. All cases are different though so see a specialist and go with whatever they suggest is best.
