All the competitions for prizes of a year's supply of balls state that number to be 6 dozen.
Would that last you a year?
More?
Less?
How often do you buy balls.

I purchased a dozen Chromesoft and a dozen ProV1x before last year's H4H...
Half way through the Chromesoft and haven't touched the ProVs...
I do use "finds" if they're good enough - and often find a couple a round so that may account for me not being a ball manufacturers dream......

I bought some 2 years ago, on a whim and because AG were doing them cheap and I wasn't picking any up of that type (B3300 RXS) - they are the only ones I've bought in the last 20 years.

Seriously tempted last week as I know I get on really well with the True Vizio chrome softs on, and around, the green.....but resisted!

On the other hand I realistically lose a ball in the water every other round - our 11/12/13th will get most people!

I bought 6 dozens hex chrome last year. still got some left

I lose a lot... I'm pretty impatient(and rubbish) so if it's a knock and I don't find within about 30 seconds I just say forget it. Would estimate I'm over 72 balls for the year- probably nearer the 100 Mark.

I usually get a dozen around Christmas, another dozen around Easter and then Another dozen for my Birthday in July. That usually does me for the year. Will possibly pickup a few sleeves at the course as and when. Probably 40-50 balls per year I reckon.

I bought 4 dozen in September last year and 30 are still in their boxes - most of the rest are now in my practice bag but I have lost a few I admit!

I'll also play any decent ones I find and I get given some sometimes so I have used more than just 18!

Bought 4 boxes over the year - got two sleeves left - don't lose many but give a carrier bag away to a guy who cleans them up then sells them for charity

LOTS!

Or at least i thought it was till i checked my account for vice orders.

Got 60 Drive last xmas which i used til spring.

Still got half the 60 pro i bought for summer and around 20 of the drive for this winter.

So it would appear 120 covers me easily, which surprises me as i seem to recall losing loads in the drink!

I got 4 dozen before the start of the season and still have a dozen left. I have played some pickups during the last couple of months as well.

I seem to remember buying a dozen in 1996 in AG Bournemouth (special offer).

Don't hit the ball far enough generally to lose it - apart from the occasional water hazard (particularly 11/12/13th at Hever Castle). Usually finish a round with more balls than I start with.

Please guys. Keep buying and losing new balls so I don't have to. :D:whoo:

I have only recently stated playing again after a break of 10 years or more. I bought 50 Grade A lake balls expecting my loss rate early on to be quite high, happily in the 5 rounds i have played so far I have only lost 1 ball and had i of been able to search for longer would of probably found it but didn't want to hold up play

I think the numbers disclosed are prettty irrelevant unless the number of rounds you play is also declared because I think they go hand in hand.

I bought 60 Vice balls this time last year, bought a dozen AD333 a month ago for the winter and won a box of AD333 Tours mid summer, so that's 96.

Gave a handful of Vice balls away for people to try and I've still got a couple of sleeves left of the AD333's, some of all the balls that have scuffed up too much are in my practice bag.

I've played approximately 110 rounds this year so I'm happy with that, sometimes a ball can last me 3-4 rounds but then I could lose 3 in 1 round when having an off day or playing a tough course.

OK. Since this time last year I've bought 120 balls and have played 75 rounds (approx). Having got through 70 i'm happy with that.

Hard to say. I bought 4 dozen last year and have about half of them left, but have played a lot of other balls (won and found) in between, so I guess if I only stuck to the ones I bought, 4-5 dozen would about cover it.

New ball every medal/competitive round. Lose a few through the year and put another new one in play. 5-6 dozen seems right to me. Prefer to start a round with a new ball the majority of the time.

If I finish my round with the same ball it gets rewarded with a spot in the practice bag for future short game practice sessions.

I think the number of rounds is an important factor and who else you have to buy for !

I have managed over 140 rounds this year plus multiple short rounds (9,11 etc) and a ball can last 2 or 3 rounds or a bad day lose a couple. The members at my course seem to play the most horrific collection of concrete rubbish balls you could ever imagine and though I find 2 on average almost every round very few are usable and therefore head into the practice bag or thrown away.

Fortunately a friend of mine is a proverbial blood hound and he keeps our group well supplied with a free dozen or so of good quality pick ups every couple of months.

I don't use many as a result but always stock up when I see a bargain (you should see the boxes in my cupboard as those £9.99 a doz E6's Black Friday could not be resisted).

My lad on the other hand plays around 5 or more times a week (doing a sport qualification with golf specialisation) and he eats "premium" golf balls as a slight mark or scuff renders them unusable in his mind despite it not being a competition round and hitting the ball so far means more losses. On occasions he gets angry at a bad shot and declines to look for the potentially lost ball.

I try and contain the volcano and quip - there goes another £2 of my hard earned get your butt over there and look for it - usually wth me off in advance...

Only improved when it got to the stage that I removed access to the boxes of new balls - I now ration them out each week (6 new ones max) or he has to ask for them. He is now much improved and has said "you should have done this ages ago" ....

Also have gone to buying pearl lake balls for him to mix it up but he costs me a fortune on balls let alone new kit.

Kids, who'd have em - must get him back up the chimney or down the mine earning some money to pay for them himself.
