Just been wondering whether or not a tour ball will have a better effect on my game.
At the moment im using Wilson Staff DX2's and Srixon Soft Feels....I like soft balls for putting.
While these balls are pretty good im finding that with my wedges i dont get enough spin on them to stop when i want on the green..
Alot hit in front of the flag but could end up 12 to 15 feet past.....
I hit a pretty straight ball my bad shot when it appears leaks straight left.....Im a little apprehensive about using a tour ball as im afraid that off the tee they might cause me accuracy problems....I know that the cheaper distance balls spin less off the tee but there killing me around the greens presently....

Will a tour ball get me to maybe another level of consistency or will i end up going backwards with the change.....

You could try the Dx3 (or whatever it's called) or alternatively, come and pinch some Px3s from my house, if you can get past the dog.

Try some nice balls, you might be surprised, or you might be in the woods?!

I use/will use only spin balls now until September. I don't pretend to be good enough to get the most out of them, but at least my short irons stop better on the greens. I hit (and stopped) on 8 greens on Sunday....somewhat better than the 3 or something last time I played with AD333s. It did help I took less club as well. (I'm sure you saw the thread). :)

I quite like the taylormade burner tp if i am not playing well enough to justify playing prov 1/x, maybe worth having a look around at other brands. i just got a dozen z star yellows, so I am looking forward to trying them at the weekend, tried the zstar last year and they were excellent so expect the same from these.

I think I'm going to have a look at these Bridgestones Dodger keeps going on about. Good price and if they work as well or better than a ProV it can only be good.

snap same situation for me. i use wilson staff px3, which are fine. but when i use prov1 what a difference ball sits down where i want it. at momemt cant afford double the price, but would consider a cheaper option if there is one.

If you like the px3 try Wilson TX4 Pro Golf Balls, £25:95 at the moment from golf-direct.co.uk.

I use them all the time now, better than the px3 and great feel and spin on the green.

Hmmmm...

A 17 h/capper who can't get enough spin and stop on the ball on the greens. I know several single figure h/cappers who have the same "problem".

The answer is very simple - just try to pitch the ball 12 to 15 ft shorter and you should be a lot closer to the flag :D :D

I would say it's the wrong time of year to be expecting to get much spin, certainly is down this way, so I wouldn't imagine the ball is gonna make much difference unless you're hitting perfect shots.

A tour ball would spin more than anything but I would think you're better off landing a bit shorter than expecting to fire at the pin and hold it there.
