Probably Ronaldo but I do like Manual Neuer as he is the most solid keeper I have ever seen and as a defender it must be a dream playing in front of him as you can think even if they beat me they won't beat him. And that's before I take into account the fact he's probably one of the best sweepers in the world as well.

Maybe because he's the best player in the world?
He plays in a rubbish Portugal team, that only got there because CR destroyed Sweden, whereas Messi plays in an Argentina team with plenty of top players. Messi, however, did nothing once Argentina got out of the group stage.
The Ballon D'Or judges players over a calendar year, not one tournament.

Has to be Ronaldo. 55 goals in all competitions in 2014. Top scorer in La Liga, top scorer in Champions League, most goals in a Champions League season, has 20 goals in 12 this season in the league. He's absolutely unreal. Messi is incredible, but Ronaldo has been the main man in 2014.
Neuer for me. If you had put Schweinstieger in there I would have voted for him. He gets everywhere, runs matches, never disappears, sets up the strikers. One of the best midfielders of his generation but not sexy enough for awards. I'd have his name down first on the team sheet every time.
