asked fellow competitor to chuck my ball over as I thought I couldn't score in today's stableford. then realised I could get a point if I tapped in. am I ok to replace and putt out?

I think it would carry a penalty unless ball was marked first before being lifted.

I'm assuming the ball wasn't marked before being lifted. You can replace and carry on but you would also need to add a one stroke penalty for lifting a ball in play as you requested your fellow competitor to lift it for you.

Yep - as above. A one stroke penalty. You breached 18-2 i . By asking your FC to chuck the ball over, you "caused the ball to move" As it was on the green (?) it could have been lifted, but needed marking first.
