Following the current theme of rubbish threads.........

Over the years I have built up a collection of about 40 different ball markers from different clubs, some flat and some with a spike

At the moment they are in a draw, but have seen some framed display cases on fleabay

Anyone do this?

Anyone got any other ideas about how to display ball markers?

Anyone care? :)

I only have one ball marker that I was fitted for by the pro at my local course. I discovered that up until then I had been using a left handed ball marker and that was what caused all my putting problems what with being right-handed.

But in response to your questions. No, No and No.

Which way do you have to face the ball marker as not to upset the ball markers - stand in front is universally accepted

:D

On a serious note - do you have someone near you who engraves trophies etc - they would be a good person to speak to about getting a display case sorted

Has the Mrs given you some wall space for your ball marker collection? If not I would say... keep them in the draw...

PS. What is your favorite?

Just go to a picture framing shop, they have done my boxing gloves, football shirts and some trophy's and were very reasonable. You choose the frame, the depth you want and off they go, simples.

We all know that the main kicker is the type of wood for the ball marker frame. Do you go for extra firm with teak, firm with oak or regular flex with bamboo. The type of glass is immaterial.

I have a big laminated map of the Ireland mounted on hardboard. Try and get a marker at every track and mount them on with blutak. Spiked markers are soon sorted with a dremel. cutting disc or pliers to remove it and then a grinding stone to flatten them off. Just be careful with some of the cheaper markers that have a stuck on emblem, The heat generated can melt the glue and you don't want it falling on the floor and getting covered in dust and hairs etc.

Going on your reputation Bob, is the map the right way up?

Creep Chris :)

talking about left handed ball markers, had the same issue with a left handed pitchmark repair tool

Does a ball marker have to be a certain size? , some of these Gambling chips seem huge, and by pushing the little spike into the green are you not testing the surface?

Open house for pedants of all persuasions :whoo:

You can use a box of cornflakes if you want, nothing in the rules, only just be prepared to move it often though.

I have my own office so wallspace isnt an issue

I like the one from Huntercombe best a plain silver disc with a red kite (the bird of prey) on it

and a cracking course as well, playing it again in December with my society :)

I had the gambling chip from the Oxfordshire, and thought it was massive! I persisted in using in though, as it's the nicest course I've played so far!

A couple of months of using it, and I worked out there was a middle metal bit that came out!
