Ball hits FC's trolley

Was out for a few practise holes with my mate last week and halfway down our 8th, he was (still) trying to get out of the left hand rough. I was standing about 50yds ahead of him, off to the right.

He hit his shot and it squirted out towards me, about shin-high. I managed to get myself out of the way but couldn't shift my trolley quickly enough and the ball bounced off the bag and stopped in the fairway.

What would be the ruling in a stroke play comp?

This happened to me when a pp hit a 40 yd pitch onto the green, however he pulled it 10 yd left and it dropped in the bottle holder on my carry bag. Funny as owt. He was livid coz for some reason he thought it was a two shot penalty. A PP put him/us right and said drop it as near as possible to where ball has landed in me bag. I told him I am taking me bag 100 yd back down the fairway.

Only a penalty if it hits his own equipment or his PPs, i think.
Not sure how it would work in a 3 or 4man team event

If I recall this gets really good fun when two FC's share a buggy and you hit it with your ball

Sometimes its your equipment, sometimes its theirs
