Ball Dilemma

Guys, i've been playing just over a year and have been mostly rubbish and lost loads of ball. And usually played with what I have found. Spent loads of time on the range and the three rounds this year have all been personal bests.

For Xmas I got loads of balls (47) Some refurb Titleists that ain't great and haven't used. Some Callaway Warbirds and then some Dunlop LocoMotion.

First round of the year I used the Dunlops and in the three rounds I haven't lost one yet.

I am playing the best I ever have and now feel like I need to carry on using the Dunlop although everything I know tells me the Callaway will be a better ball.

The dilemma is...

should I switch to the Warbirds or carry on using the Dunlops while I have the confidence in them?

I've only been playing just over 2 years and my advice would be to speak to your local Club pro and ask their advice, then stick to that ball for at least a year. In that way, you'll start to develop feel, especially around the green. My personal preference: Srixon AD333, good value too!

I would carry on using the Dunlop without a doubt.

If you go out tomorrow and use the Callaway's and have a nightmare you can easily go back to the Dunlops, but it will be a round lost and a knock to the confidence.

I would definately say if you've found something you're very happy with then without doubt keep using it.

I'm with Keef on this, if your playing well and gaining confidence with your Dunlops, stick with them.

If and when you have that dodgy round, then it's time to change to your callies.

That's the dilemma, I'm confident at the minute, but if I use a better ball will I get better or is my new found golf ability all in the Dunlop balls, are they my 'Billy's Boots' :)

I wouldnt attribute it specifically to a better ball, just maybe you've found the perfect ball that matches your swing & swing speed right now.

Who knows, a year down the line as your confidence grows with this ball and you start swinging faster and/or on a different plane, you may find the dunlop ball doesnt work so well anymore and you need to try others.

Stick with the Dunlop fella!

The ball won't make you a better golfer per se and shouldn't have a direct effect on your confidence or abilty. The better the ball the more you can do in terms of feel and spin but it depends what you are looking for. Why not have a chat with your pro and see what he says but for my money you might be better off with a slightly better ball than the dunlop. I think you might get more feel off the putter which will help and a mid range ball (AD 333 NXT or the Wilson's) will give you some degree of spin without compromising distance and won't break the bank if you lose a few

I agree with Homer, better balls will give more feel, but if you are unfamiliar with them, they certainly will not help you.

If you are familiar with, & or get on well with a ball then why change. Its nice to try things every now & again but can actually harm your game by changing too often.

Stick with the Dunlop balls if they work for you. Warbirds are okay, but as far as Callaway balls are concerned, there are better balls in the range on the market. Not tried the new design of Warbirds so they maybe an improvement.

Right now I'd concentrate on your game & play the ball you are playing than experimenting with different balls
