There seems to be two types of materials that bags are made out of.

There's the tent-like, slightly porous, man-made cloth material that is probably most often seen, and is the only type of material I've ever had bags made out of (albeit with variations in thickness, and porousness*).

Then there's the heavier-looking, sturdier, vinyl style of bag that (not-just) the pros use.

Is the latter style of material more waterproof than the former?

And is it much heavier (sturdier/more expensive)?

* doesn't look like a real word, but is.

A lot of the latest waterproof bags (both trolley and carry) are made of a very lightweight non porous vinyl / plastic material and have fully covered waterproof zip designs too.

I bought one last year and have not suffered wet grips during a round ever since. A bit pricey but in my view well worth it.

Murph once said that most bags are made from the same material they make T bags from.....
No reason that all bags can't be made from a waterproof material these days....

Ive a tour bag and thats no more waterproof than any other type pf bag TBH.

I think water gets in though the zips, which look like the main difference between waterproof bags and ordinary ones.

Thanks, all

Which one did you buy?

Cheers

Just buy some Mac Wets gloves and get on with it. Too many people fanny about trying to keep them and their kit dry to the detriment of their golf.

My thinking is while I am just concentrating on the golf others are dropping shots from trying to keep dry.
