Hey I noticed on golf on the TV how many players start with a bogey or worse but then still have a great round.
It happened to me today double bogey 6 on my 1st but still ended the round with a 5 over round.

I cant say for others but for me starting the round so bad kind of gives me a good kick up the bum and gets me concentrating, too many times I dont feel ready on the 1st hole, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I've started off with a triple and won before.

Worst story was NRing the second in a stableford off the championship tees and coming second by a point.

Ignore what I said I started today with a double again and ended up 10+ round

I normally have very bad first holes but wouldnt say it affects the rest of my round

The 1st hole on my course is very difficult its not the 1st hole you'd want for the 1st shot of the day. Tomorrow I'm gonna have to do better.
Last 2 rounds on my 1st has been 6 and a 6

Our first is a tough 229 yard par 3 off the white. Take four (net 3) and get out of there. It has the potential to dump a double or treble on the card very easily. Of course the worse thing that can happen is making par or birdie. The round normally only goes south from there

In my case the "1st hole" usually set's the standard for the rest of the round, so if it's s***e then I'd just as well turn round and go home although I have been known to walk back to the "1st tee" and start the round all over again !...
