About 18 months ago I had a pro take a cold look at my long game swing as I was hitting it too much right to left and basically I had got far too in to out with the path as much as 10 degrees in to out on some shots.
Spent a fair bit of time straightening out the path to get a straighter ball flight, worked hard on the feeling of swinging left and making sure I got more hip rotation and less hand action which led to a less in to out path and much reduced side spin numbers and thus much greater control and less dispersion.
Fast forward to a few months ago and I reinjured my left knee leading to it being hard to get as good a rotation and the weight on my left side at impact and leading to me stuck a bit on the right side having to flip the club more with the hands.
With the weather being awful today and my singles match being cancelled I went and hit balls on a monitor instead. Sadly the results were hugely disappointing as I sort of expected. Shots ranged from a block to a draw to a massive overdraw (hook).
I didnt have the HMT technology on so didnt get path and face numbers (will do that next time) but with the ball flight and when the side spin numbers are as high as 1000+rpm with a wedge in hand it doesnt take a genius to work it out. Will have a lesson in the next week or two but looks like its back to the old drills for winter (fitness permitting!!!) So frustrating!
Only positive was that my distances were pretty much as expected and quite consistent across decent samples sizes.
