Hi all,

After a year away from this frustrating game iv'e decided to rejoin my club and get back into the swing of things, so to speak. Kids got me some golf lessons for Christmas in my quest to rid me of some bad habits and to fix a few swing issues, namely my horrible fade on my drives. Have a club trip to Celtic Manor in March to play the 2010 and the Montgomerie so i have roughly two months or so to sort myself out

When i gave up a year ago i was up to a official club handicap of 26 although on a social knock myself and my playing partner agreed i should play off 18, and to be fair i was more then happy to play off. One thing i would like is what i call a proper swing as mine is only half at best and although effective at times is not consistent or pretty to watch. Iv'e also lost about 10 yards on most of my irons and am inconsistent on anything less then a six iron so i do need a little help.

So, tonight i have my first lesson with our clubs young pro, i have my expectations of what i want to achieve but i appreciate he's not a magician. What should i expect from him and should i embrace all his changes or try and get him to work with what i already have.

In my opinion, a pro should ask you what you want from your swing, and from there, make little adjustments here and there not wholesale changes straightaway. You haven't given yourself the longest time frame to get things resolved, but in my experience, when actually playing, you should have no technical thoughts. Don't think about what he has said in the lesson, unless you are on the range for a decent practice session. Expect things to get worse for a period of time before they get better, but embrace the lessons, and try to take as much from them as possible. Ask questions if unsure, and put the practice in between lessons to try and groove in what is being suggested
