So 2 years ago I decided to take up golf, then started the knowledge so didn't have time to continue. 2 years later I've now got time to play!

Had a few goes over the Range and was surprised at how I was hitting the ball. Today however, total nightmare!

Only club I felt ok with was the pitching wedge. All over clubs (irons only, didn't dare touch any woods) just felt out of control. No smoothness what so ever and anything that went well felt like luck. Definitely need to get a few lessons under my belt!

Yes mate that's the one. Did it Full Time so golf was never going to happen. Different story now though! Still need a lot more practice before thinking out having a round. Just aiming to get the basics again!

Expectations, that's the issue.

It's the same for me, and probably a lot of others, if you're not expecting to hit it well, you probably will (or at least better than you expect) if you are expecting to hit it well, you almost certainly won't (or at least as not as well as you think you will).

Stick with the short irons for now, 7 iron plus, have a couple of lessons and that'll see you in good shape before long.

Good luck!

That's a good point. The last few times I've been I wasn't expecting to even hit the ball let alone hit it and be happy. After getting a bit of confidence I'm trying to run before I can walk. Going to take only a few clubs next time and leave the bag at home. That way I won't be tempted to start using the Hybrid Ect, like I was today...

Only piece of advice I can give you is to treat all clubs the same, if you start thinking oh god this is a 5 iron you wont swing the same as if it was a pw.

Your subconscious really plays a big part.
