Appreciate a pointer to correct rule/ decision please.

4somes match, all square on the 18th. Team A (home team) on the fringe in 2.

Team B hits approach which flies the green. A spectator up on the clubhouse balcony waves to indicate it had gone OOB. Team B takes a drop and hits an almost identical shot, the same person again indicates that ball had gone OOB.

Team B goes to Team A and shakes hands and concedes hole & match. Team A pick their ball up on way through the green.

As Team B go to retrieve their balls, the original ball is actually still in play by a couple of inches.

Apart from slapping the spectator, what is correct way to proceed?

The correct way to proceed is to the bar where Team B can graciously allow the victors to buy them a beer.

The match was conceded and Team B could not go back on that. See Rule 2-4 where it is clearly stated
A concession may not be declined or withdrawn.

I had it in my head that there is a decision regarding wrong information being given - although I think it was in the context of time spent searching for a ball in wrong area (although that may also be a dream!)

Cheers

Can't think of what your thinking of.

Wrong information comes from your opponent and is about the number of strokes taken (Rule 9-2b). Accepting duff information from a guy on the clubhouse balcony is the player's own fault - he should have checked the whereabouts of his ball.

It's still a matter of off to the bar, where Imurg and I will be waiting to share the beer and the general hilarity at Team B's comprising two plonkers. :)

I am making no presumption that you yourself were in Team B. Oh no. Queries such as these are on behalf of a friend, are they not?

Haha. It genuinely was! Happened yesterday, I was chopping it round elsewhere......no rules to defend my tripe yesterday, although a RO in the morning was an unexpected bonus.

As team B conceded the hole and match, team A have won 1 up. A concession once made cannot be withdrawn. Check where your ball is more carefully next time, and don't rely on third parties!

That's strange. I'm sure I've heard that said before.

Must have been dreaming.

Nothing to offer on the rules front, but even if it were another player indicating OOB instead of a spectator I'd be calling the second ball a provisional unless I saw it OOB with my own eyes. Nothing to lose by doing so.

I always check my own ball is OOB too, so unless it's obvious never ask anyone to pick it up as mistakes can easily be made (such as the ball appearing over the line of an internal OOB markers but the stakes have finished) but it's always easy to be wise after the occasion - GL

Suck it up. You conceded the match.
