Can't stop thinking about how many duff shots, lousy chips and silly three putts i made. Not playing until next week now so not sure how to stop myself going crazy in the meantime!

Yup, know that pain.

Trying to regularly break 90 just now. Last round front 9 I shot 43, back 9 was 54! Absolutely wounded, felt a little bit like I'm going backwards again.

Know the feeling.. suffered from the unmentionables in my last round.. only in irons when recently my irons have been the best part of my game..

Have to just keep calm and work it out on the range

Think about your game and where u can improve. If it's putting get on the practise green. Driving the range and do on. Last game has gone. Let it go. Move. Focus on the positive shots. Also mate it's just a game...😃 Go and have a nice slice of cake!

Had a complete howler this past Monday evening, couldn't muster up a decent shot to save me life...

Went out for a few holes on Tuesday evening to see if I could sort out the issue and all was back to normal...

Last weekend was mine and my wife's anniversary, we'd gone out on the Saturday evening and I'd drowned me sorrows, well not so much drowned as more of a 'sunami' anyway we didn't get home till about 3 on Sunday morning, spent all day nursing a thick head...

Monday was hot and sticky and I'd spent the entire day lugging cutting units around in the workshop so it probably wasn't the best decision I'd ever made to go out and play after the few days I'd had beforehand...

Pretty much had howlers for 3 years now, with only the odd round shaving off the odd point. Gone from 4.3 to 6.7, and from only having the odd round in the 80's, the rest in the 70's, to now struggling to break 90.

After last weeks 93, net 86, I seriously thought about giving up but decided to go out yesterday. 90, net 83.

And I'll be out getting tortured today. Q-final of the singles knockout. Got through the first round on a concession, and scraped through the next round 2&1 by playing a guy who had a worse mare than my mare, losing 7 balls.

I can't even put it right on the practice ground. Spent an hour there yesterday morning, hitting the ball great and knocking 40yd pitches to inches. Once again, out on the course I was missing greens from 40yds. My head is in bits with this stupid game.

Went to the range yesterday with just my 5 iron, I think I hit 3 decent shots out of 40 balls.
Drove home utterly dejected and wondering if I'll hit a good iron shot ever again, but I'll be out in the comp this afternoon trying my best though.
Chin up mate, it happens.

Yep, same here, 4 weeks ago I was playing awful, shanking and all sorts, missing greens when I could have thrown the ball on. However the good news is I havn't missed a green in four weeks, mind you I havn't picked a club either in the last four weeks. Maybe a team game next week but right now I am not bothered either way.

Same boat for me.

Played two rounds last week and couldn't hit a ball straight at all, missing left, right and straight through the green. Shanking, topping, slicing and generally becoming more and more frustrated with each shot. Decided to put clubs away for the rest of the week and went out last night for a few holes on my own and miraculously it had fixed it self, playing in a comp on Tuesday so hopefully it stays 'fixed' for that.

After two decent rounds the past couple of weeks, went out yesterday and it was a horror show, 53 on the front 9, need to make 37 to shoot my HC, or 40 to make buffer, after a 7 on the 10 and a 6 on 11, the remaining holes were just practice, teed off with my 5 iron most holes looking to try and get some semblance of a swing back. The 16th finished both me an Kraxx off, he went first pull into the farmers field, I then followed suit, with kraxx playing a second only to do the same again. It was at that point we both thought stuff it and gave up,

Happens to us all.

My bad patch game right after a big improvement. I felt like just walking away.

Weeks later I was shooting a PB, getting cut and taking home over £200 in prizes over two weekends.

Very glad I didn't pack it in

I feel your pain. Shocking score yesterday. The weird thing is, on the whole, I'm not playing badly!! My driving is killing my rounds. The rest of my game is pretty solid, especially short game. I'm losing too many shots with wayward drives. The problem for me is that I don't have time to practice in the week, so I'm trying to iron out my driving issues in the Saturday comp!

Defeintely need a driver focused lesson.

Yeah it's always the same after a dodgy round. All I usually do in that case is select the two worst clubs (usually hybrid and 5 iron!) and take them down the range one evening. Just work through 50 balls and hopefully out of that lot I've hit a couple of decent ones to restore my hope.

Everyone goes through phases of playing Tom Kite, just ride it out and you will come through the other side.

So went to a quiet part of the course yesterday and just practiced hitting a few shots. Really slowing my swing down, feel like my confidence is getting better. Sadly, I was on ebay a bit too much last night - always happens when I play badly, feel like throwing money at clubs will improve things.

Believe me when I say "NO IT WON'T" been there and done that, spent a fortune in the process, some I bought, some were given, some where bartered for, others were inherited, all at the end of the day failed (to some extent or other) to achieve what I required...

Until !...

Recently I aquired a set of 'Wilson Deep Red II MDS' the 'Fatshaft' version from a workmate who coveted something I had so the deal was done...

I'm having a right larf with'em, can hit'em as soft or hard as I like, drop'em on a 6-pence one after the other, I still get the odd slice/shank every now and then but that's just me...

But my point is it's cost me a good few quid before I stumbled across these, probably far more than just getting a proper fitting done and buying the appropriate set of irons in the first place...
