Wow. If you like superhero films you HAVE to watch this! I'll not put up any spoilers but the characters work brilliantly together, the dialogue is brilliant and the battle sequences jaw droppingly fantastic. Downey Jnr steals the show but to be fair he does have the best script. That said I thought Mark Ruffalo was outstanding as Bruce Banner/The Hulk.

Go, watch, enjoy!

My daughter also went to watch this last night and posted on facebook how awesome it was. She does tend to use the word "awesome" a lot, but seemed geniune in her praise for it.
I don't go to the pics nowadays but will watch out for it when it comes out on disk.

I was just about to start a similar thread. Finally saw this last night and was blown away. Joss Whedon absolutely nailed it. If you're a casual "comic book hero" guy, you'll enjoy it and if you're a comic book super geek, you'll enjoy it as it has a lot of subtle geeky references throughout the film. I can't wait for the next one. The surprise for me was The Hulk - Mark Ruffalo is great (though not quite as good as Norton, but I'll have to watch "The Hulk" again to confirm that) oh and Scarlett Johanssen and Cobie Smulders in tight cat suits for two hours was just wonderful!

I would also rate the 3D version. One of the better conversions I've seen.

not seen any of the previous marvel movies. Thinking of taking the boy (also missed them), is any catching up required or can you watch it 'cold' ?

It certainly helps as there are smaller bit-part characters and you'd be able to tie in their connections to the various super heroes from the previous films, but isn't a total necessity. I can guarantee you that you'll still really enjoy it.

Aztecs is right that there is more in the film for people who have watched Iron Man, Captain America (though that film is pap) or Thor but even if you havent it's still brilliant and easy to get into. Have to disagree with you though Aztecs, Ruffalo is a better Banner than Ed Norton for me. I don't like 3D and the 2D version did me just fine :)

I watched it on Sunday and loved it. I am a total comic geek and they nailed it. Nice cameo after the credits to line up what would be a massive sequel.

Went with teenage daughters and wife at the weekend - having caught up on the all the previous films on Sky in the run-up. All of us absolutely enjoyed immensely. Watched in 3D -and all thought it was the best use of 3D in any film we had seen.
