Was thru at Parkhead to watch a pretty abject game of football from both teams...Celtic had more ball but didn't really do much, we had very little ball and did even less.Standard Scottish fare, which I love.

Anyway, during the course of the game I commented to my pal the crowd must have been the smallest I've seen @ Parkhead post Fergus McCann.I estimated 26K, my pal claimed less, but he said the official crowd will be 50K.I laughed it off.

So this am I check the official attendance-46,065.In no way, shape or form was there that figure, so why do they make that claim?

Perhaps they include those season ticket holders who didn't attend, not unheard of apparently although I cannot see what any club has to gain by overstating the attendance.

Surely it would be likely to attract the attention of the VATman.

Have attendances not dropped since Rangers dropped out with the league now being a formality ?

They do count the season tickets.
They say crowd was about 29k and the club gave an awful lot of free tickets out as well.

As an opposite I used to watch Swindon in the Macari years when the chairman was done for betting on Swindon to lose.
The ground capacity was about 19k and it would be nearly full when they would announce the crowd as 13k.

Outside of Celtc and pariah club Kilmarnock, crowds are actually up.In general, those who attend Scottish football matches outwith the bubble of the OF, would like to see both clubs expunged from our game.

Mind you I know a few EPl teams that would be happy with Celtics lowest attendance for 20 years.

I watched the "highlights" last night and the ground did appear to be half empty. No great surprise though on a horrible day with the league a formality.

Attendance figures seem to include season ticket holders whether they turn up or not rather than a count of the number actually through the turnstiles. I'm pretty sure they need to count that though.... wasn't there a police report recently that gave "actual" attendance figures?

Aint that the truth.Walked back to Queen St after the game as usual, I think I'm still drying out this morning.Had the usual welcome from the locals in The Londoner, couple of the younger Hibs support took them up on their offer of a wee cuddle on the pavement.I decided a weekend liedown in Glasgow wasn't on my 'to do' list.

Mate reckoned 30k tops.

I wonder of we counted the Green Brigade tickets?;)

They certainly do count all the season books for the attendance. It is no surprise that attendances are poor when you look at the price charged for a terribly poor product.

Care to explain this further?

the club, not the fans.

The chairman endorsed bringing Newco straight back up, did he not?Plus he's trying to punt the club he bought for a £ for a million?

I know a couple of killie fans, decent guys who despise the chairman.

Pies are over-rated too.

He is an absolute cretin and is single-handedly bringing the club to its knees. He has so many pals in the media peddling out the 'I don't know what I've done to deserve this' line that Killie fans who have only the Daily Record for info wonder why 800 or so fans have refused to go back to Rugby Park until he leaves.

He is an absolute snake and has ruined the club I love and have supported since I was a wee boy.

And the pies are super.

Certainly not unusual to count the season tickets irrespective of whether the holder turns up. I have noticed when I go to the Tigers to watch rugby that they have changed the announcement from 'attendance' to 'number of tickets sold'.

I've got a lot of time for killie fans, can appreciate its the hard road to follow down that neck of the woods.

am I also correct in thinking he's removed the hotel from the football club?

Can mind when we beat you in the LC final and meeting some of your lot outside and one wee boy being in absolute tears.Told him that it can be hard following the lesser teams in Scotland, but it'll stand him in good stead for when victory comes. That and the tenner we gave him cheered him up!

Attendances are always quoted versus the sold tickets. Attendance is irrlevant in the err, attendance figure.

As a number, you'd be surprised how many paying ticket holders don't turn up for games. As a true and but ridiculous example, Rangers once had 14000 season ticket holders missing for a league game versus Gretna in 2007.

Anyway, here's that article you mentioned.... http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/apr/12/manchester-united-attendances-police-figures .

went to the Aberdeen Dunfermline match at Dumfy, half the ground was closed as they didnt need it and its cheaper then to close it rather than turn on the lights and have stewards there. The quality of the football was embarrassing. No surprise to me numbers are dwindling, love the game of football not the standards.

Going home first week in the New Year and maybe take in Saints games on 1st and 4th Jan. But not expecting much in the way super-duper footie or big crowds. Fortunate to support a diddy team that is solvent and can complete for a European spot.

If you are bringing your clubs and fancy a hit, you'd be welcome at my place for a round.
