Ashridge GC??

Very nice course, club is a little "old fashioned" still but course more than makes up for it and falls into the category of serving a great carvery lunch. Not the toughest course you will play but can bite a little in places if not straight off the tee. Greens have always been excellent when Ive played there (pretty sure it hosted local qualifying for the open until recently too)

I have a mate (a Cat 1 with a weird, but works, swing!) who is a member, rating it as the best balance, for him, in the area. With Woburn relatively close and not out of his budget, it must be pretty good! He's pretty finicky (though obviously not about 'mates'!).

Built his own net and used to be a serious Club Ho, so quite a dedicated golfer!

That is a steal!
Limited to 60 players - how quick will that fill up..?
Might have a look.

Not about how quick, will be ballotted on handicap near the day once entries close. Dont think it will fill anywhere near as fast as it used to now they are limiting on age

I've played it a couple of times, lovely wooded course, lots of colour in late spring. In good condition when I played and generally very highly thought of.

I'd guess that ballot will be high 5s/ low 6s.

There is a growing band of mid ams now!!!

Sorry Jimbob, I had you down as 35+ mate, one hell of a tough paper round you had!!!! ;)

Played it twice and loved it, especially the glass like greens... I may just have a go at this one.

{Edit) Damn, I'm in Italy when this is played.

Lovely course - greens are really nice.

Highly recommend playing there

Posted my entry and cheque today.....hopefully won't get balloted out...

Very disappointed as just found out the handicap cut off is now 5 and I'm 8th reserve.
What I don't understand is that the entry form states

"The field is limited to 60 players. Entrants must be 35 years of age or over on the day of the competition and hold a current ACTIVE CONGU handicap. The handicap limit will be 9 and, if over-subscribed, a ballot by handicap will be employed".

But in the draw sheet sent out, there are only 33 players (11 x 3 balls). Will write back and see if I can find out why the change of rules as they were originally only going to ballot out if oversubscribed.

Ps good luck Robobum...

That is very strange Rick - will ask my mate who is a member to see if he has any info
