Arnold Palmer annoyed that Rory and co. aren't playing Bay Hill

It was Arnie that brought the Americans over to play in the Open in the early 60's. Just shows the strength of European golfers that they are missed in the US now. It is shame a lot are not playing as it is a good event, and Arnie is one of the all time greats.
 
It is not to do with Bay Hill as such, more its position in the calendar. The modern thing for a lot of players is to have a routine going into majors, and Rory prefers to take some time off, so is missing 2 or 3 events prior to The Masters. If Arnie got his event moved in the schedule, he would get these guys.
 
It seems preparation for the Masters is the paraemount consideration.

I agree with Richart, European golf owes a lot to Arnie. Would have been nice if a few more of the current top Europeans had fitted this in to their schedules.
 
Tiger and co won't play the Scottish Open prior to the Open. Tough titty Arnie!
 
Can't play every event can they? In what is now a worldwide tour seemingly lasting all year it's surely understandable that something has to give somewhere. Every event organiser is gonna be upset that x or y or z isn't coming to play in their tournament soon enough.
 
Its about Augusta now and so each player must do what they feel is right to prepare. Personally I think if Arnie wants to attract the top players he needs to move it to a different date. Will we see a plethora of US players come over to Europe. Not a chance so you can't have it both ways
