World Cup 2010 - Scots buying up Argentina kits

Scottish fans are getting behind England’s World Cup rivals Argentina with Lionel Messi football shirts outselling those with Frank Lampard and David Beckham’s names on them by three to one in the UK.

It was also reported by The Sun that cheeky Scots are buying USA shirts en masse - the Americans are England’s first opponents at the finals in South Africa.

Jerseys featuring the name of Barcelona star Messi, widely regarded as the best player in the world, are ranked fifth on Kitbag’s sales lists, behind three different Wayne Rooney England strips and Steven Gerrard’s home shirt.

Kitbag boss Ray Evans said: "We've seen a big rise in demand from Scotland for US and Argentina shirts."

You should ask yourself why they are being outsold in the UK. Scotland only has a small percentage of the population, something like 5%. Nobody buying the shirts down south? I hope England do well but dont blame us if you dont as you down your own team in the media etc more than we could ever do.

You will find more English NOT wanting England to win the bloody thing than Scottish. Every Man U and Liverpool fan are CLUB b4 country and dont really care if England fall short.

I bet that 60% of Scotland dont want England to win. Thats 3,000,000 people .... I bet if you tallied up the folks in London Liverpool and Manchester who dont care it would dwarf our wee parish.

I aint seen any Argentina tops or any other WC tops. The Sun is a big catalyst when it comes to bear bating and they love the thought of kilt wearing Jocks spending cash on A.B.E.

One of my best mates who originates from Stirling has so many tops it's unreal AND every one of them belong to a team that has played against England in world & Euros.

It must so go against the grain to have to pay out so much to only get the pleasure once
