Having just purchased some new irons, and probably playing worse than ever,i decided
that I was going to practice at 6 oclock this morning.
So up at 5.30am,freshened up,no breakfast and off to the grass range between our 4th and 10th holes.
Funny enough I wasn't the only one on the course.
A single guy was just teeing off the first and a 3 ball were coming down the third.
Are you one of these crazy people or is it the norm at most courses.
Or are you one that plays till its dark and everyones gone home.

Used to do it before we had a family. I worked less than 5 mins from the club, so an early morning practice session or a loop of 3 holes was easily completed before heading in to work for 8am.

Ah the good old days.

Me and Kraxx used to get up on a Sunday morning for a 6-6:30 tee off and we weren't the first off there was. probably still is one member who would practically sprint round, he's be teeing off as we pulled into the car park and we'd see him on the 4th green as we were walking up to the 2nd tee, our paths would cross again as he teed off on the 17th as we got to the 11th tee.

The getting up and getting ready was a killer but once out on the course it was great, finished before 09:30, into the clubhouse for a full English, hmmm mushrooms cooked with the bacon so they soaked up all the bacon fat, where's the drool smilie? then back home before wor lass was up and the full day ahead.

Now since starting the comps on a Saturday, Sunday is a lie in :D

I now have the option of doing this, drop HID at the station in the morning, as the club is on my way to work I usually go up onto the practice green for 1/2 hour, but can do a loop of 4 holes if I wanted.

Ive been out a few times as it was just getting light, but not anymore. We have a guy at the club that goes out most mornings and gets into trouble for doing as the course does not Off open till 7. the green keepers do most of the grass cutting before then.

I often zoom round from 7am for a practice on a saturday. And i'll also be the last person off the course on a monday evening :-)

Quite often I'm amongst the first groups out (ignoring the couple of individuals seen exiting the course at 8am!) and one of the last people out in the evening, considering we have over 500 members the first tee at ours is like a ghost town come 3pm both Sat and Sun!

Not much of a morning person, but since the days have been getting longer I have been nipping out for 4-5 holes in the evenings. Once I have the 2 kids sleeping i race out and tee off around 8pm. Usually get 5-6 holes in.

Playing the busy periods ( sat/sun mornings) you tend to be so focused on staying in touch with the group in front that you dont notice the surroundings so much. When you have the whole course to yourself in the evening it does tend to be more relaxing. Look forward to taking my kids out at this time when they are older.

The lads keep on getting at me to join them on a Saturday morning knock, I keep on telling them I'm still having my morning brew at 9am !!!!!! 10.30am is the earliest I get there when not in comps.

I'm one of this weekend morning on practice area around 6:30-7

And if off work get a early game in teed off at 5:15 yesterday morning was class

Start new job next Monday as a greenkeeper so will get a couple holes in before starting work or bit practice :)

Have done it in the past. Nothing better than golf at first light with the course unspoilt and pristine and the wildlife in full majesty. We have a roll up on a Saturday that go out really early. I'm sure in winter they need miners lamps to actually see and that its still technically dark when they start

Not keen on early mornings - lower back takes a couple of hours to loosen up.

Summer evenings are my favourite time of all. The wind dies down, the heat of the day drops off, the course empties and the air takes on a magical limpid quality.

Not looking too likely today tho...#autumninmay

Yesterday morning at 4:30 was gorgeous blue skies, sun out, not a breath of wind, the course would of looked good in the morning light but that's the photographer coming out of me, pity I had to go to work. But got 8 rest days soon so going to check weather report and go that early just for the peace and tranquility and play. But I also like to play late evening as well..

Have a roll up on a Thursday and Sunday that start at 6:30 in the morning

It enable me to play two roll ups on the Sunday

Definetly not a morning person but often there late at night - planning to head out tonight after work if it drys up even a little!

Used to work shifts and we occasionally went straight to the course for a round from the last night shift - some good games but not great scoring!
