Are you golf mad?

loads of stuff, but off the top of my head this Saturday just gone I drove to the IOW (from Romford, Essex) to play in an AMAM and home again the same day, left at 6:30am and back home at 12am, that was after a 36 hole open on Friday.

I have also done the same to play with a friend at his club in Wales, left early, drove down, played and drove home again!

Spent the whole of march in Australia on Honeymoon, landed back in Heathrow at 6am sunday morning, tee'd off 3 hours later in our sunday medal, after 24hours of travel!!

Organised a 12 hour golf range marathon where 20 of six teams hit over 250,000 balls. Averaged over 1000 balls an hour from the 20 bays.

Organised a golf sprint when teams of six hit one ball round an 18 hole course as fast as they could.
Winning score was under 15 mins.

Note I organised these CHERITY events and did not partake.
I'm not totally mad!!

If so, what mad things have you done in your persuit of golf?

Yes!

Forgotten my spelling lessons.:D

I do, however, sling a carry-bag over my back and ride my motorcycle 40 miles to play (Shire London), or get up at Sparrows.. to get to Woburn for 36 holes! Record is 95 miles each way for another 36-holer (Thorndon Park).

Well Bob, I am - Golfmmad

I must be, 'cos I once took 18 shots on a par5 (when I first started playing) and still carried on. And just last week, playing at Goodwood, took 10 shots to get out of a bunker!

Nothing puts me off. :one::whoo:

Depends on your definition of MAD Bob...Everyone that knows me thinks im mad anyway so i dont think that Golf would change that:whoo:

Anyway....If you mean is it an Obsession...Then im guilty....At first when i started playing i trolled through books, magazines, the internet, DVD's anything that i could get my claws on that i thought would give me that little bit more knowledge to get lower i tried to find.....
I ate slept and drank the game....Still do to an extent but no im a bit more Savvy....
Iv ditched the trolling and the books and magazines and such for a Pro (or 2:thup:) and rather than get confused have went down the road of getting better by being thought.....

I would literally do anything to get lower..... If i had my way and i didnt have to travel with one of my playing partners every weekend i would be at our club 2 hours before my tee time loosening up and practicing my game....
If i had the time i would practice every night.....If i get a spare half hour im out with the putting mat in the living room knocking balls across it....Failing that im in the back yard small as it is chipping balls into an upturned brolly......

Other times i will be out there just going throw the positions that my Pro wants me to be in for a better plane.....

I skived off during a wedding last year to play 18 holes with a mate until the afters started..... I wasnt even missed:rofl:...

Every hour of the day im thinking something golf related in some format or another....Just who i am.....My playing partners dont really share my enthusiasm but this is what will separate me from them when i get to single figures......

I think you have to have a slight mad edge in you to play this game anyway.

I spent a lot of money having my eyes lasered as I couldn't read greens well wearing glasses, had at least 15 sets of clubs in the same number of years to find "the ones", had lessons, read about the game, talk about it too much and meet people like Oddsocks in a muddy field to be abused!

I drove from Watford to Berwick on tweed to play two rounds of golf with a whole bunch of guys I had never met before.

And then was stupid enough to do it the next year. And the next.

When i was a junior in the summer holidays it wasn't uncommon for me to play at least 2 and sometimes 3 rounds in a day
I just couldn't bring myself to leave the golf course
