The threads not really to discuss Rory’s recent foot-fault as that’s been done, but motivated by the incident....

I was thinking of how easy (or difficult) is it for others to take a stance and not be aware of where your feet were in relation to abnormalities in the ground (including level but bare ground & yes white painted lines too)

I know on the tee I don’t like to stand with a foot in a previous players scrape when I take my stance and off the fairway I notice whenever my feet/foot is on anything different to a lush/level piece of ground, might even be just a visual imperfection but I’d notice it as part of aligning myself

I’m not saying it puts me off or even that I’d consider moving my stance/tee, only that I’m aware of it

So do others notice these things or does it not really register/matter to you?

I defiantly like to feel that I am standing on stable ground, don't like standing on or in anything I can feel through my feet. If that makes sense.:)

I assess my lie before I even take my stance.

I'm very aware of where my feet are, especially when taking (full) relief from an abnormality.

strange you should bring this up , im not sure if it used to happen naturally or not but only lately iv'e started to pay more attention to my stance , before i use to look at the lie , look at the distance and whack , now i look to make sure where my feet are pointing etc ..

strange but true

but regarding abnormalities & drops etc, id be pretty sure i was taking full relief as id stop and think bout that, prob to make sure i wasnt breaking any rules rather than anything else
