Are you a ball whisperer?

Lately have been playing with a new set of guys which includes someone who turned Pro. Two of them have a habit of speaking to the ball. So I hear things like 'Cut', 'Sit', 'Get up there' etc. Interestingly, more often than not, it seems to work. A few times they have spoken to my ball, and it behaved too!! I call them the 'Ball Whisperers'

Interesting, it seems to be rubbing on, and once or twice I had to stop myself from doing the same. Very contagious.. Anyone else who does this? How do the non-whisperer feel about playing with whisperers?

Yeh is talk to my ball,

You little son of a witch ball! Why you don't you just go HOME? That's your HOME! Are you too good for your HOME? ANSWER ME! SUCK MY WHITE ASS, BALL!

I have to admit I am guilty of that. I can quite often be heard to say "Be Right", "Go" or "Get Up". I am also guilty of self praise such as "Perfect", "Great Shot or "That's all over it", quite often within seconds of the ball leaving the club face. I'm a leaner too and will often be seen contorting my body in a vain attempt to direct the ball with the power of body movement.

It always works

It's a waste of time talking to your ball - as the last thing they do before they leave the factory is cut their little ears off......

I have been known to call out " Be right " and the odd shout of " sit you ##%**~~$ "

I do play every week with a old chap, he's not got a H/C and normally shoots around 105-110, now he always tells his ball to sit, normally right after he's thinned it and with it traveling at light speed across the green at a hight of 4 inches.

For me, I only really talk to my ball in the wind. Specifically when I've aimed left/right to allow for the breeze , and it stays where I aimed , I'll often say "Come on wind!"

Just recently however when I hit a ball bang on line, I'll quietly say "Be right".

That's about it for me.

I tell it to...
"miss the green"
"get a bad bounce"
"go on, get in that bunker....and PLUG"

never fails to amaze me the power of the mind.....

Never ceases to amaze me when someone says that and you just know they aimed straight at the flag and pulled/pushed it!

I know someone who likes to shout after their ball. Quite often I'll hear "Great Strike", or "right on the sweet spot", but my fav is

"Couldn't have hit that any better, straight as an arrow"

Well yes you could've hit it better, you could've hit it onto the fairway and not into the cabbage.

Not really thought about this before but now the questions come up I reallise that I am always talking to my ball, both good and bad.

Thinking about it is actually making me laugh. I hadn't consciously realised I'm doing it but my favourite, after a bad one is to ask it "what the f... are you doing over there" :)
