Hard to say. I wouldn't go near them myself.....

I'd say Odyssey putters, Cleveland wedges and anything New by Taylor Made or Callaway are the most risky purchases.

I've read various scare-mongering stories that over half the golf stuff is fake. I tend to go for second-hand v.low-volume sellers, guys clearly not in it for the money and just want to sell their old gear.

Well on the face of it they look ok but I've checked out his history and he's obviously got a source of Cleveland wedges coz this is the 3rd set he's sold this month. What this source is - well you pays your money.....

He's got paypal protection so you've got some back-up if it all goes Pete Tong..

Not sure, do not like the fact that he does not take Paypal as this offers protection if they are fake.

Thanks for the quick responses. I too looked at the sellers previous deals and he is either very close with someone at Cleveland or he is knocking off DHL vans.

I read on a forum that if the Dynamic Gold sticker on the shaft is there then they are sound. I'm so unsure. It's either these or Vokey Spin Milled. Seller does have paypal protection as mentioned.

It is slightly confusing as it says Paypal at the bottom but the actual text of the item says credit card, cheque or postal order only. Also confused as to why you need to contact him before you send payment.

Whenever dealing with e-bay its always buyer beware, as with anything second hand, even though there are supposed to be safeguards.

Having trouble loading the pages, so can't say much about the items in question. The evil-bay page eventually opened & £77 seems a very good price for 3 wedges second hand or not, so whether a fake or not I wouldn't worry too much unless there are other problems with them.

I've mailed him and queried why I need to ask about payment method and I also bit the bullet and asked him if he can confirm the authenticity of the clubs. If he's geniune he'll accept the question and respond accordingly.

One final question. Has anyone ever seen the white marking above the name Cleveland on the club head before? As shown in the image above.

would reiterate that every time dave, I also like to go and meet the person selling to see what they are like and where they live, ceratinly for major items.

Maybe this guy is genuine, sounds it, but my opinion of Ebay is that it is a scammers paradise so am always careful. "If it looks to good to be true , it probably is".

Marc, I am a big ebayer and have bought and sold a good bit of golf gear there.
IMHO I would suggest these are probably FAKES. One of my only rip-offs was for a CG10 wedge. On mine the ferrule white bands were too narrow and too close together and the grip was a crappy copy.
If you look at the photo of these CG12's where shaft meets grip there is clearly messy tape residue, you would not find that on a genuine cleveland wedge as quality control wouldn't pass it.
They are also too cheap (where's the sellers profit if these are really Clevelands?) and that white mark on the plastic wrapping looks dodgy.
These sets of 3, all 2 dot models isn't something you would find in a golf shop or something Cleveland would market, you wouldn't get sets of 3 as you would more likely want perhaps a low bounce 60 and a high bounce 56 etc.
My advice would be look elsewhere, this 'call me for payment terms' line is ropey too. :D

Anyone selling multiples of anything is often dodgy too unless they are a Pro Shop.
Postage seems very high too.

Looks like some poor sucker with a 3 feedback score has bought them anyway, please tell us it wasn't you moamoamoamoa!

Should one of us contact the winning bidder or inform ebay that we think these are fakes in case he hasn't paid for them yet??

Sorry to say, but on 3 occasions I have ordered stickers for re-shafted clubs. Never been asked or turned down. On two times, I was sent a pack of 9 free.
