After a discussion tonight I can't think of another sport where a manufacturer will bring out the new kit and a user will have to change their current kit, where as a golf manufacturer will release a new oversized head or white head etc and they'll be flying off the shelves like the sldr mini etc.

Or you'll have a person who'll develop a putting issue and will immediately blame the putter and go out and replace there's with a new £200+ Scotty putter.

Generaly are golfers mugs?

I don't want to get into whose the biggest rip off manufacturer's I only used Scotty as an example.

Mugs deffo, biggest mugs? Well I guess it's how much you 'love' your football team. Fans ripped off day and night but always come back for more.

Been there, done it, and would go there again in a heartbeat

Yes have been for centuries.

Golf gloves.......definitely confirms it.

I bet that 20% of club golfers will be wearing Nike yellow belts within a month.

Anyone want swap for an IJP one mine seems to like the weekend off! :D

Not sure it's just golfers though, most sports it's the same new design but a new one but the same could be said for mobiles laptops cars TV's?

Replica football strips.

But yes, totally gullible.

Bit harsh, at least the shirts last a whole season, unlike certain manufacturers drivers.

To the OP, yes mate, they must be. I'd have thought that with all the claims for additional distance with the new clubs, the second shot on most par 4's should be a chip back from behind the green.

Mugs?

I've changed everything but the driver (that's getting changed at Christmas) in my bag in the last year, had some spare cash this year and fancied new clubs - but my previous clubs were seven years old and I've played a hell of a lot of golf with the new bats.

The unevolved golfer is very gullible. Experienced old hands, much less so.

I think football fans are equally gullible paying £40-70 per season for a new replica shirt, plus the new national one rolled out increasingly often for the flimsiest of reasons. Rugby clubs are the same but tends to be better quality, something you can wear socially and don't change as frequently (bar perhaps new sponsors).

If a golfer sees "more distance", "make more putts", "tour" or "as worn by" then the pound signs light up in their eyes and they fall for it time and time again. I'm no different especially with putters!

Mugs? Yeah a bit, but most of us love it as it gives us enjoyment, and keeps the game fresh! :-) I don't buy anywhere as much as I used to though...kids take that cash. :D

Some are yes. I was with putters. But irons and woods no. Only had 3 changes of gear in about 40yrs. Then they were last year's models or secondhand. Up until 10yrs ago I was still using the small headed drivers lol. Still got them hit them like a dream they just don't go as far as modern big headed ones (those big heads just look wrong).
