Just wondering about them... I dont own one...The closest thing i have to one is only the Freecaddie App on my phone which just gives me front middle and back of greens.....

To be honest i dont use it much at my own place.... As its usually pretty windy it tends to throw club selections out the window.....
HiD's is dropping hints already December.... Im not mentioning the C Word....
Anyway....Its either one of these or a nice set of shiney fitted MP64's......

I find it helps me have confidence in club selection. Doesn't help after I duff it 20 yards though. I would say it does save me a shot or two though. Courses I haven't played before and it can save me quiet a few.

Personally I'd go for the MP64's.

A decent laser is just over £100 and a higher end GPS shouldn't be much more than £300 with many good ones a lot cheaper.

Don't much of a conundrum really enjoy the new shineys! :)

Not sure it will definitely save you shots gives you more confidence if you know your yardages especially at away courses, if your home gaff is pretty windy then you'll be pretty adept at adjusts shots for and against the wind and knowing actual yardage won't make that much deference to you.

Yes and YES!.

If your even remotely serious about golf I think they are a must. Knowing down to 5yrds what club you need to hit is invaluable for me, another big one is knowing how far to hit a shot if your laying up to give that perfect wedge distance.

I recon is saves me at least a couple of shots a round.

Downside to getting the Mizuno's Pal is ill have to part with the Wilsons for them.... Wont be able to afford them and keep the Wilsons as well just in case.:mmm:

If you don't use your 'existing', though non-conforming one much, then I don't believe you would use a dedicated, conforming, one enough to justify the cost.

Dubious about the benefits of MP64s over the FG-Tours too, but....:D

Naa... Iv only used it for knockabouts..... Never in Comps.....
It accurate enough to a point i suppose......

As for the Wilson..... Im thinking the same myself.... If they aint broke n all that.

Pros:

Course management- knowing how far away hazards are. Distances to front/back etc.
Learning how far you hit all your clubs.
Very useful if you find yourself on the wrong fairway.
If its windy I'd still rather know how far away the green is before deciding to club up or down (surely some information is better than none?)

Cons:

Eh, none.

It wan't a conforming/non-conforming in comps comment.

It was merely a comment based on the amount you have used the one you already have access too (though not for all rounds). If you don't use it much and don't miss having it in comps, then I don't believe it's worth spend a huge a amount for the little 'benefit'.

I, on the other hand, would miss not having one (or a Laser). It's a couple of shots or more in my mind, not for the actual distance - though I'm quite good at that, if not direction - but for the confidence it gives me to swing as required.

The one benefit i did see with it Pal was for laying up on Par 5's.....Or like one of the lads has said above... If i go off the beaten track on a hole and i dont know exactly how far away i am....That gets a little interesting.... The one thing about our course is a lot of trouble is also at the back of greens so you d aren't club long...If you do your up to your waist in grass and cabbage....

Ha,

Stay on the proper hole then!:D

GPS is certainly good for distance to hazards. Or for both of us, but for different reasons, distance to the back of the green. In your case, you want to be short of that; in mine, traditionally short rather than long, a target one often.

Go laser!!! Ok on blind bends/humps not much help, otherwise a Great piece of kit. And as accurate as can be! I've golfshot and a bushnall and I'd never get rid of the laser! Go laser!!!!!!
