Are all your shafts the same stiffness?

I was in sports direct last night, and thought I'd get a new lob wedge, as my old one's grooves are baggier than Birchy's kecks.

Asked for advice from gay from derry with regards to what "bounce" and picked up a new one for £10.

Gets it home and realised I had picked up a regular shafted one. Initially I thought I'll take it back tonight.

From memory, I think that my original one might have been a regular shaft also, even though every other club I have is a stiff. I then thought that I only use it when out of tight-lipped bunkers, or when I need to get a very tight and quick up and down. May a regular shaft with more whip be better for that?

Anyone else have different shafts in some clubs than the rest of their clubs?

My 3HL is a regular shaft whilst the rest are stiff

Used to have a 4 Hybrid in regular also
 
All woods have stiff shafts, with the exception of my 913 Hybrid, but I am now beginning to find this balloons a little, so looking to replace it. All of my irons and wedges have the exact same set-up with Project X 5.0 shafts.

Stiff.... ish (S200) wedges as they are TT DG Wedge flex.

Looking for a stiff shaft fro my 4 wood thought as the experimental stiff shaft in my driver has been a revelation.

Irons will stay regular (R300) flex as they're going brilliantly.
 
as manufacturers dont have set and agreed standards across the board then one companies 'R' could be similar to anothers 'S'


Personally I have stiff in woods and Hybrid, expect the driver to change to 'R' soon.

Irons are 'S' but expect that to change soon also.


@OP as a wedge is pretty much never swung at full pelt I'd imaging S or R would make very little difference to you.
 
I bought a set of TM Burner (08) woods off the shelf. All were suppose to be R. The driver was a real Mr Whippy and not suited to my swing. The 3 wood was too firm and the 5 wood was like wet spaghetti. All marked the same flex, with the same stock shaft and all varied hugely and that's supposedly from the same manufacturer

Wedges are 'control' clubs, you shouldn't really be hitting them hard enough to warrant stiffer shafts. If you need to hit it harder, use your next club up. Regular flex in a wedge should be ideal for a club golfer :thup:

Think about it, when did you last hit a lob wedge full on, most are feel shots, 20,30 40 yards shots...........a regular shaft in a short club will do the job.

I mainly only use it for 5-10 yard shots, only for 40-60 yard shots if a very, very tight pin, and only probably if matchplay.

The most I can hit it is 60 yards, and that may be 1 out of 50 shots.

I'm going to see the flex on my old one, but some fair points made.
 
Budget clubs like dunlop are all reg. Made for the masses. Off the shelf vokey and cleveland etc will be wedge flex (fancy name for reg) unless u order a stiff or upgraded shaft.
 
Pete that donney wedge wont have a project x 6.5 shaft in it unless glen upgraded it for you! Lol


my md lob wedge is wedge flex but my sw is stiff. Gap was stiff to. Just prefrence really.
