hilly?

I'm looking around there for a game on Sunday PM with Jan so she can get some practice on fast greens and they look a bit hilly.
I guess I've just got used to flat Lincolnshire.

i played Matlock last year. Nice course, but pretty hill but the greens were not very quick at all.

nice club though

Can't offer any other advice for 'up north'

Bob, the best courses in Derbyshire (IMHO) are Kedleston Park, Burton, Horsley Lodge, Chesterfield, Cavendish, Matlock and Buxton High Peak.

Kedleston, Burton & Horsley are quite flat.

Chesterfield, Matlock quite hilly but not terrible.

Buxton & Cavendish are very hilly.

I play at Ashbourne which is very hilly and booked up all Sunday with a DUGC event anyway.

I used to be a member at Kedleston and played a scratch team game at Burton last year so I would recommend those two if they are available.

I am a member a Chesterfield and played Matlock the other week. Chesterfield is nowhere near as hilly as Matlock IMO however it is Captains weekend this week so the course is closed to visitors. Renishaw is a nice course which is on the Derbyshire/Yorkshire border try there

I would try Burton upon Trent, locally known as Bretby. Greens are usually very good , always quick , sometimes very quick. Course is reasonably flat and very playable. Thoroughly recommend for a mixded ability group/pairing.

It was so Jan could get some practice on fast putting greens, not mountaineering

Plus, unlike some girl's blouses half my age, I still carry my bag so mountain courses are not ideal the wrong side of 50
