Hi all, im a new forummember from sweden. we are a couple now and then going for vacation to uk for play linksgolf.
we like linksgolf and are thinking of joining some good links course club as overseas members and spend most of our vacationweeks in that area.

we are members in a swedish club and can you recommend a good links course club to join as overseas members and preferrely the club has more then onme linkscourse.

Is it difficult to be approved in general as an overseas member?

I don't know if they have deals for overseas members but gullane in East Lothian would be worth investigating. The club has three good links courses and there are lots of other links in the area that offer cheaper green fees to members of local clubs. Also very handy for Edinburgh...

Quite a few Irish links courses in the north west (Donegal) and down the west coast offer overseas membership, some on an annual or lifetime basis. All of these offer the normal green fees as well, sometimes with deals through local hotels. I think it is quite difficult to recommend one without knowing more about what you like or how much you want to spend. I would advise taking a vacation in the area and playing a few of them to see which you like.

quite a number of clubs offer overseas memberships, usually the expensive clubs though. Probably best you narrow down either the area you want to golf in or the actual clubs?

As an example, Donegal Golf Club (known as Murvagh) offers overseas membership at 505 Euro a year. Murvagh is a good big links course near Donegal town in the south of the county and by Donegal standards, is pretty accessible.

Narin and Portnoo is a lovely little links on the lower mid coast of Donegal and also offers memberships for people who live more than 20 miles away, which probably includes Sweden, and lifetime international memberships.

Ballyliffin is a terrific club with 36 holes and reasonably accessible from Derry. They offer overseas and international memberships as well.

As for getting approved as a member, I would think that as long as your credit card payment gets approved, there would be no problem! Golf in Ireland is very down to earth and not at all snobbish.

Murvagh is a winner ;) wouldn't really join or play Narin unless I had no other option and Ballyliffin would be a great choice as well.

Thanks all for your tips and suggestions....For us its often easier and cheaper to fly to London and i have glanced some to Burnham & Berrow and Saunton...anyone have any opnion or advices about those clubs?

B&B and Saunton are both excellent clubs and highly rated among UK courses.

But they are not all that close to London. Burnham and Berrow is at least 2 and a half hours, Saunton closer to 4 from Gatwick Airport.

Cruden Bay near Aberdeen is an excellent course. There are also plenty of other great courses in the area. Played there with a few Scandinavians in the past because Aberdeen is one of the closest airports to you.
