I have an Apple TV box do I can airplay my laptop onto the screen. Would also work with iPad or even iPhone.

Not very portable, just a home solution.

Chromecast for £30 works for us for some apps. We also have an Apple TV which we use for accessing apple stuff. Mostly when we want to show photos or home videos or use apps that also work with the apple tv

You know that even if you connect it up, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sky etc wont work...

Unless you want to go chinese import, 45 quid ish is about what you need to pay i'm afraid!

licencing, they are all blocked from broadcasting to a 3rd party device via the ipad etc.

you could stream sky, netflix to your TV is via a PC using IE and a HDMI lead.

Voodoo? I dunno the technical reasons, but trust me, it wont work. Google it! In fact, i have done it for you!

In fact from the last article, it doesnt work as the HDMI output is blocked within the SKy app. Same will be true of netflix etc.. I know why the do it, doesnt make it right per say though. But you think, you can have 4 devices on a sky account, you could share that with 4 family members and they lose 4 x subscriptions..
