I've been getting on well with my 3 and 5 woods for a while now so much so that I sold off my Hybrids on here.
I'm now thinking about getting a 7 Wood and wondered how others have faired with this club.

Great club. I carry one for when I need a high flying 170-180 is shot which is quite common on my course. Great for safe lay-ups at par 5s and out of the rough or other dodgy lies (e.g. divots, etc.) too. It's nothing fancy - a Callaway x series with a steel shaft bought for under £50, but it gets the job done.

This was exactly what I was going to say! :D I won mine in a Pro's Raffle about 5-6 years ago. It's a Callaway X Series too and it's my go-to club on so many different situations.

I have an Adams Tight Lies 7 wood. Not used it for a few years, but when I did use it it was very reliable and got me out of many a sticky situation.

I have Bridgestone J33 with a graphite shaft. The club was made to spec and dare I say it is awesome. The last time I used it, I was just hitting it miles. It produces a high floaty flight, so great down wind or calm days. I think the loft is 6 iron or 5 iron. But distance is 3 iron to 2 iron with more height IMO ...

Have a 7 wood adams tight lies, originally bought it years and years ago, due to hating long irons and not being able to hit them tbh.

The 7 wood is a great club, carry is about 180 in summer (7 iron is about 150).

Easy to hit and nice high flight, I gave up with a 3/4/5 (plus 6 almost) irons long ago as result and now have 7 and 9 the original tight lies woods as they are so much more forgiving to hit.

yep got 1 aswell.
cobra amp cell, the only club in my bag i actually bought brand new,and that made me cry having to hand over 170 quid, yes i was a mug who bought 1 when they 1st came out.
also have the 3 wood but set to 4.bought from ebay about 4 mths after the 7 wood, for 80 quid.
great clubs when i can manage to hit them.

it`ll be a bag full of hybrids soon ,just to match your girly pink driver and seven wood .

No, but one of our regular four ball carries a 9 wood. This is specifically to use on a 180 yard par 3 where you have to play over trees and he gets the height required with it.

in our society a senior i play with has an 11 wood.and the ole git wins a lot of nearest to pins with it.

poacher your only jealous, funny enough managed to track down 2 hybrids to go with my irons, tommy armour.tried em didnt like em and couldnt get em to work.so na m8 stick with the 4 and 5 irons, thanks for showing concern though bud,:ears:

the dark side is waiting bro.
ps....you have a pm.

I carried one for some time as I wanted something for the 170-190 yard range as...

1) I had no confidence at all with my 4 iron

and

2) Just cannot get on with hybrids.

I found it reasonably effective.

Since changing my irons I now have a 4 iron that I can hit more consistently so have removed the 7 wood from the bag.
I don't regret it as I find my 4 iron more accurate.
As others have said, a 7 wood is handy for the "not so perfect" lie.

I kind of use one in the summer.
I have Big Bertha 3 and 5 woods.
In summer, as distance is easier to come by, I set the 5 to 20°.
Catch it right and I can get massive carry with it and it stops reasonably well.
At 20° its almost a 7 wood, probably nearer a 6...
Many amateurs like us would, in all probability, be better off with a 4 w, 7 w setup.

Anyone who wants to beat me knows to nick my 7-wood and lob wedge at the start of the round. I was going to divorce Mrs Shark and marry my 7-wood because of all the nice things it has done and the sex would be better too. :D
