Anyone tried these?

Not tried them. You could still lose a ball if it rolled under some leaves and you didn't have a clear line of sight to it couldn't you?

Are they allowed to be used in competitions? Or does it give you an unfair advantage in finding potentially lost balls? I'm not going to buy them, just wondering.

i guess if the ball is totally obscured, you are not going to see it. Probably more useful for finding other people's lost balls than a specific one of your own.
 
Met someone on the course the other day who had them and let me try them on. They do make the golf ball a bit easier to see in certain lighting conditions (it's an effect like black light in a disco that makes everything that's white or neon glow while everything else darkens). But I doubt they are much use when the ball is hidden in deeper grass or covered by leaves or the like.
 
I'm really rubbish at finding balls - even when they're a few feet in front of me in not-very-long grass! :D

Ten quid on Amazon, might be worth a punt for someone like me?
