Had a few good things happen recently plus a small win on the National so looking to treat myself. Not looking to spend a fortune but a new club in the bag is always good. Was looking online and came across this

http://www.justgolfonline.co.uk/products/Golf-Clubs/068036_MacGregor-DCT-Lakewood-34-Putter

I was tempted by one of these a year or so ago and seem to recall them getting a pretty good write up. The head shape suits what I look for in a putter and they actually have my preferred 34 inch shaft. Obviously not going to find one to try what with MacGregor going bust so wondered if anyone on here had tried one

It's not to disimilar in head shape to the Bettinardi BC3 that I have. Though the neck is very different.

For 40 bucks though, it's worth a punt. It'll probably be very good at mid length putts, though might be a bit light for long putts, and great at shorter putts if you're a confident short length putter. Or at least that's what I've found with the BC3. This is of course based on my worthless opinion!!

I thought it looks almost exactly like the ping B60.

If that's right, then the Ping is the original, and best.

If you can't try it, then personally I wouldn't spend money on it. It's tough enough finding a putter you like when you take half a dozen out on the practise green.

Depends on how much you can stretch to, tbh.

Round my way, Direct Golf have taken over an old Navada Bob's, and they've got a pretty good sale on at the moment, getting rid of old stock.

There is a Rossa Monza Spider there for about £80 I think, which seems pretty cheap to me, and a Tad Moore copy for £30. But pick the two clubs up, and you can feel the difference in quality straight away.

I bought a MacGregor Bobby Grace putter untried off ebay for about £40. It was called "the fat lady swings" and was an updated/copy/reproduction of the putter Nick Price won the open with. When MacGregor first ran into trouble (years ago, before the recent nail in the coffin) these putters were on back-order for miles. It's a great putter. Bobby Grace designs (albeit this one is a copy of a B60) are excellent.
Direct Golf had a job lot of MacGregor putters about a year ago and I tried some DCT face putters and loved them. Sadly, by that time, I'd already converted to my shorter/upright putters.

I'd buy it....I have lent my fat lady swings to a mate at my club and he's putting s.w.e.e.t. with it......

Good putters, good designs. Bobby Grace putters.....legend.
