I have a relative who is fascinated by the titanic and i was thinking of getting them flights and tickets over to Belfast to visit the titanic museum. Just wondering has anyone on here done it and got any tips? A day trip looks pretty easy going but would you recommend a night there? Thanks

I've done day trips to Belfast and I've also done a few overnighters (one of which I went to the Titanic museum). Sis in laws fella is from there so been over to his parents a few times as well.

If you are just going for the day, it'd save time going into City airport rather than BFS (if possible).

TBH, there's so much more to see there than just the Titanic museum, one or two nights there would be better.

I haven't but intend to. My last trip to Belfast I was advised that you need to book tours to get the best out of it and they were fully booked.
I would definately recommend staying over there for at least a night, plenty of things to do and see. Bus tours of the CIty well worth while and I found the Ulster museum in the Botanic gardens fascinating.

PS as pointed out above places outside Belfast are well worth seeing as well. Giants Causeway is stunning

Have had a look at the website I was wrong about the guided tours but they have time slots for the self guided ones which must have sold out.

Yea, definitely worth doing as well as taking a black cab tour around to see the Troubles hot spots. Don't do the bus tours, they're too on the surface. A cabbie will be able to answer your specific questions and show you more than a bus can.

Have never been to Belfast or they had a Titanic expedition. HID is making noises about a weekend away and she'd love Titanic. Is there enough to do as couples or is it more a "bloke trip" place?

If you like scenery and have access to a car, there's plenty of that....

I can't compare them because I have not done a black cab tour but our bus tour was great, saw a whole lot more than the troubles hot spots and you get great views from the top of a bus.
