I've been secretly doing some leisure surfing at work and thought I'd check out the GreenFree site.

http://www.greenfree.co.uk/

I want to use the voucher I have from march GM magazine.

I'm struggling, big time..... :D

All the numbers on the maps are all over the place. According to greenfree there is a Belfry golf centre in Herefordshire and half of the links (once you pull up course details) are to places that either have a terrible (and uninviting) website, most of which don't seem to even have a page for green fees.

800+ courses? I haven't managed to find anything useful yet, let alone a good course/venue to go and visit.

Anyone enjoying/making good use of this?

Only time I have ever used the greenfree voucher is when I was playing Easthamlodge. I didnt know they accepted them but my pal asked and they took it.

Aint really checked out the list to be fair, I may do tommorow

Yes, Madandra....that's the kind of tosh I'm getting.

Half of these courses are offering deals anyway, which can't be used in conjunction etc. yada, yada,

There is a course near me that I'd like to play, but it is impossible to get a straight answer off them about the green fee anyway....

I just want to read "green fee mon-thur £40" (or whatever) so I know what to expect before I phone up....

The folks that run this proprietary club are just bankers. I know loads of Shropshire and Staffordshire players who WANT to go and play at these courses (2 x 18 holes) and just give up because the website is totally dedicated to golfing breaks and restaurant deals....

I just want to know how much it is....f.f.s.!!!

If I go and play, I'll then eat and drink in the bar...obviously....

"Hotel" courses....they need to wake up....

I used their site this week to find several courses. Finally chose Orchardleigh in Somerset, but used the golf club's own site, and rang them direct to find out what deals were on. Finally got it for £15 without the voucher. Figured if clubs were prepared to take vouchers they may have other deals on. It may pay to ring direct.

I have had other good experiences with Greenfree, so it may pay to press on. Just my experience - good luck!

Thanks. I think the way forward is to pick up the dog and bone, and get the low down.....If I'm up front about wanting to use the voucher, they'll understand.....

I phoned 1 golf course this week Flackwell Heath who on the website say accept them, spoke to the pro and he said they don't accept them until the summer, nothing was mentioned on the website.

This was due to them having a winter rate of £20.

the mapping is not great on the website. In grampian and highlands they have the numbered dots no where near the course it relates to. could be confusing if looking to golf in an area you dont know well.
